I have Jupiter's Darling, and I only like one song - The Oldest Story in the World. The rest just doesn't grab me like old Heart. I know people compare it to the old stuff, but I don't hear it. Is it the same lineup from the '70's?

I thought Jupiter's Darling was great. Ann and Nancy are the only 'original' members of heart. They are backed up by other musicians such as Gilby Clark (formerly of Guns and Roses). The music was a good return to 70's form while staying modern. I thought the drawback to JD was the length.

No, I don't think so

Saw Styx opening night of the tour with my Uncle, then saw Journey with a different Uncle. Of course I wasn't even a teenager, so I copuld be wrong. Maybe, maybe not-ERIC

I personally prefer Steve's more mature voice. I think it's more soulful and resonant. In fact, I think ROR and TBF are Journey's best works. Street Talk and FTLOSM are also excellent. Nobody here tries to justify Augeri by diminishing Perry. You are being disingenous. New Journey fans love Perry's work... who doesn't? I think just about everybody here would love to hear Perry back with Journey, but the man has stated he doesnt want to perform/rejoin them. He's out, and he's happy about it.

If Perry put out some new work, it would be great. I agree with you in probably a more soulful direction... some RnB material, and that would be great. He is still the voice, and with his years of experience at songwriting, producing, and singing... new Perry material would definitely be great.

There are some fans of the current band who are also Perry fans, but there are also several who seem compelled to say the band is better off with Augeri because Perry can't sing in his old range anymore. That sounds to me like justifying Augeri by putting Steve down. The band doesn't perform those early songs now the way Steve used to do them because nobody can, so why is it such a big deal to some people that Steve couldn't sing them that way now? There's no way in which this band is "better" without Steve Perry.

Well, I would agree that Perry was the best singer to ever stand in front of an microphone. However, let's not cloud the accomplishments of Steve Augeri. He is a great and humble man, and I for one, am happy he has brought his voice and the loving music of Journey into my heart after a ten year hiatus. Here here to BOTH Steve's. Remember, unity rather than division.
