Exactly right. The whole crux of this debate, and the facts can't be refuted. The numbers speak for themselves.

Just answer the question. Why mix the songs of an accredited album with three that never got off the ground?

Because songs off of Arrival and Generations blow away anything off of TBF, with the possible exception of MOL.

Face it, HOTS, you are not a rocker. Generations is too much for you to handle.

I think all of us have different ways in which we like Journey. There are a few fans who liked Journey during the progressive "Santana" days of the band, and of course alot of us like the 80's Perry days, and there are those who now like only the current lineup. I perfer to think of all of it as Journey. I perfer the stuff from 80 and on, but I do like both Steve Perry and Steve Augeri. Heck, I even like Deen singing! To me, it's the whole package. I have always liked the Journey sound - the guitars and keyboards - and of course the lead vocals.

There has always been a big debate over Trial By Fire. Several fans of the new stuff felt that TBF was basically another Perry solo album, because the "Escape" music wasn't there. I happen to believe that there was more to the album than meets the ear. Schon's talent far exceeds playing rock guitar, and I think he proved that on TBF. Could the album have been better? I think it all depends on what kind of sound the band was looking for at the time. I know that we have heard all the stuff about Perry being the control freak and what not, but I honestly believe that if Perry had toured with the band behind TBF, all the guys in the band would still be talking about how great that album was. However, that's all subjective to opinion and would've could've should've.

The band knew that taking a new direction with the lineup was going to cause the band to lose some fans - that's expected. I wonder how many fans were lost when Bad Company switched to a new lead singer in the 80's, or when Kansas' Steve Walsh left the band in 1980?

Like myself looking deeper into TBF and finding that it is just as much of a Journey album as the rest of the albums, I also look deeper into the current lineup of the band, and find that Journey is still very much alive and well. They are playing what makes them happy. They're not playing what makes them richer necessarily, but I think at this stage in their career, they probably don't really care about that as much. That is why I like the current lineup....because they're not really trying anything THAT different (different lead singers, music, etc....)they're just being gracious enough for us to have the opportunity to listen to the sound we all love to listen to!

With that said, that is why I don't see it as mixing albums.....but putting the best stuff from TBF on together.
