I know Monker knows everything about Styx and Journey and everything else!!! He just didn't know about what some of us were talking about., that why it's going back to PM. And that's why I deleted what I posted to him.

No biggie.

Back to Steve Perry!!!

Dearest Monker....legally, on paper, whatever, it is Journey's song. No doubt about it. BUT who did the Sox ask to come to Chicago? was it journey?

Perry is the Ambassador of DSB!! He IS Journey to so many!

That doesn't make it fact and that doesn't in any way negate the resounding truth of what Monker said.
DSB is a Journey song.

If the White Sox were limited to rummaging thru Perry's solo catalog for a team anthem, they'd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING worthwhile.

I don't see why anybody thinks he looks bad. I think he looks really great. He's wearing baggy pants and a big sweatshirt, and has a jacket slung over his shoulder so you can't tell much. He might be a little heavier than he was 10 yrs ago, but it doesn't hurt him at all. He's aged as a lot better than most of his contemporaries. Lovin' the hair.

He's getting as much recognition now, as he did when he was with Journey when they were great. And he isn't even trying! I'm so proud of him. Makes me think about how dumb the band was to let him get away.

I was going to stay out of this, because it doesn't really matter to me. You may be right that it is just the clothes, or the picture, but my first thought was not complimentary about his appearance. My 2nd thought was that he indeed is growing his hair back out some...I found that amusing because at the first hint that his hair was getting longer, many believed this was a sign that he was gearing up for a comeback. The absurdity is that makes him sound "Samson"-like, as if he can't sing without his hair long!

Get a grip on reality, lady.
You don't know Steve Perry and he doesn't know you (and judging by his sparse musical output and habitual reclusiveness, he doesn't want to).

And how dumb are you for still thinking that after all these years the band let anything or anyone get away?
If Perry wanted to be there, he would be.

I thought he looked great too, especially for his age. As for his hair, I personally like it this way, the length is perfect. Yes, his voice is totally INCREDIBLE, no matter how he chooses to wear his hair!!!

It's great that he was at the game, it's great to see him in public, hope to see him more :)

....and I clearly stated that it was indeed a Journey song! So what is the problem?

However...let me say this again! The white sox did NOT invite JOURNEY...they invited STEVE PERRY! What does that say?

Again, HE IS THE AMBASSADOR of DSB!

It says that the lead singer of a band is usually the most instantly identifiable member of a group.
What a revolutionary concept!
And here I always thought Ross Valory was the natural star of the band.
Now, do you have any more truisms to needlessly point out?

I'd rather he be in the news for putting the finishing touches on a new album, but whatever. I'd also rather he acknowledge that DSB was done with Cain, Schon, Valory and Smith, but whatever.

Good to see him doing some pub again no matter what. 8)

If I recall correctly, didn't Steve A. and Jonathan sing at a Chicago Cubs game early in the season?

You are right, here you go with the information :)

Journey was honored at Chicago's Wrigley Field during last night's (July 15) Cubs game as part of "Classic Rock Night." Guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain performed a Journey-fied instrumental version of the National Anthem before Cain threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Later, Cain joined singer Steve Augeri to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," during the seventh-inning stretch. The performance by a celebrity is a Cubs tradition begun after the death of longtime Cubs announcer Harry Caray, whose enthusiastic renditions of the song were a hallmark of his broadcasts and the experience of catching a game at Wrigley.

Since his death, movie stars, politicians, local sports figures and musical guests such as Shania Twain, Eddie Vedder and long-times Cubs fan Billy Corgan have all taken part. Journey added a little bit of its hit "Wheel in the Sky," before leading the stadium-wide sing-along.

Journey is in the midst of a 10-day break" from its 2004 Summer Detour. The trek picks up again July 20 in Trenton, N.J.

Seems to me, during his public statement at The WOF, he was quite gracious to all involved

The Samson remark comes from the behaviours of the Perry fans who thought Perry growing his hair out was a sign that he was going to make a comeback. THAT is a ridiculous theory! His hair has NOTHING to do with his singing.

By quoting me and replying you make it look like I had some issue with Perry's hair. I don't. I don't care either way, his hair has nothing to do with his voice. But I do not think he looked "great". I do concede that it may have something to do with the clothes he is wearing.

Yes, he was interviewed. If he says, "I'm so honored" and quoted as such in the media, that means he was given a forum to the press.

But he choses instead to suspend and indulge the mainstream media's belief that Journey does not exist and that he was the keyboardist, guitarist, bassist and drummer, lyricist and only songwriter in journey.

Come on...you hear us Journey fans criticize Journey sometimes. You can't honestly think that Perry looks like anything but a fat chick in that picture...can you?

Eric,

It 's one thing for someone here to critizise the music of Journey & give reasons for not liking it for whatever the reason, but YOUR remark is NOT constructive critizism, it is a "personal attack" that is totally uncalled for here, & really says MORE about you,& the kind of person you are that you felt you had to make that kind of remark at all.

I think Perry looked GREAT!

So you are allowed to say Perry looks "GREAT!", but Eric is barred from expressing how he personally feels?
What kind kind of crap deal is that?

If Eric thinks Perry looked like a "fat chick" then let him say so.
That's not a personal attack. Tell me, how is that personal?
Does Perry secretly have a vagina?
In reality, is he truly "a fat chick"?

Eric is allowed to critique Perry's looks, the same way you are.

Eric,

I think he looks like just what he is, a very attractive man. I think longer hair looks better on him than short hair. I actually also think he looks better with a little weight. I've never thought the emaciated look was good on anyone. Of course he was at his best during the ROR yrs, but then he's not in his 30s anymore.

-------------

As for his giving credit for the song to his exbandmates, why should he? At their shows do they introduce all those songs by saying "Steve Perry helped make these hits for us"? It seems to me that if they mention his name at all it's not in a qracious way.

Since the band perforned at a Cubs game then there must be people in the Chicago baseball world that know there is a band with the name Journey around performing those songs. They still asked for Steve Perry and I'm very glad he was there for them.
