Rd speaking the truth isn't being negative, or having to like everything you do. Is a shame TNC is on the sidelines, was wondering what happened to him. You DO NOT need to join him. By the way I haven't heard if you got your package yet?
Personally I love Chicago, use to have all their early stuff on record, nowadays just have 16 or up to present on CD, plus early hits cds. I think Jason is better than Cetera any day. They do not sound a lot alike, but both have their own unique voice.
My 3 favorite cds by them are 17, 19, and 21. New cd is great and Night and Day is an awesome cover cd. Seen them in concert twice, and wanted to see them this year in Memphis In May, but we were unable to get a babysitter.
The Journey Chicago comparison is right on the money too.

I'm not going to do jack-shit. But someone needed to tell you to pull your head in and like you are always saying - someone needs to stand up and speak the truth - dude - you SUCK sometimes.

I love you man, but you can SUCK when you get your knickers in a twist and your judgement is questionable.

Get over it and talk to you soon.

This is ridiculous. Since when the hell saying what you think is a problem on these Forums?
I would hate to see this board changing. Who wants a “WOOHOO!” board? Who needs a “YAY!” community? People should speak their minds.
The reason why I’m visiting this place and reading the posts is because honest opinions are allowed. I am totally sick of that political correctness crap and board *guidelines*. Hell, the Internet is full of Journey/Perry sites that maintain hypocrisy at the highest levels possible.

So what if someone says Chicago sucks? And then wtf could be wrong with someone who thinks Journey should give Perry a call?
What if I say Journey’s management is full of shit? It’s MY opinion based on what I see and hear.

Maybe my first post ( read: opinion) will irk some of you. At least I know I am not a hypocrite. I say what I think.

Er...wait, Dude.

Why must being bastions of all that is real and truthful in the Journey E-Community be limited to criticizing the lineup and campaigning for Perry's triumphant re entry? This notion that the only people who speak truth on here bash Augeri is the biggest bogus bunch of bullshit around here. Being mocked for being backtalk cheerleaders if you praise current journey is tantamount to truth, justice, all that is real. I say all this, of course, at risk of being labeled as nothing but an Andrew McNiece Kissass. So beit.

Please.I was talking about the freedom of speech. About honestly saying what you think without being labeled as a troublemaker. And I didn`t say that praising Journey makes anyone a BT maid or an Aussie kissass. Again, it was solely about being strong enough to accept opinions,no matter how harsh they are.
This Forum would lose all its credibility if people wouldn’t have the guts to say what they want to say.

You actually feel that Deano and Andrew's reprisal of their age-old cyclical debate is Andrew discouraging people on here from saying what they want to say?

Everybody on here is "strong enough to accept opinions no matter how harsh."
It's the harshness simply for the sake of harshness that doesn't exactly jive with the fearless truth at any all costs rhetoric that goes around.

People here also "have the guts to say what they want to say" including Andrew.

So right; I agree wholeheartedly. I'd rather you make a statement which you felt with your heart instead of propagating something which has no merit. What is the purpose of speaking if you have nothing to say or what is the reason to be who you are if you aren't defined as a person. The reason we are who we are is because we have something to express and something in which we believe. If you are cannot make claim to what is yours and what defines who you are then you have no need to speak for your words are meaningless. I'm all for stepping over the line and seeing what is there; just be prepared to say what it is you see. Otherwise move and get out of the way.

I think Its and should be totally okay to tell that you don't like a band or what not but just say Chicago sucks isn't very intelegent. If you don't like a band its good enough to just say I don't like them vary much or explain why you don't like the particular band!
And I really don't think you should say a band sucks and all the shit on a site big as this one.

WE all like aor music right, then be glad for any band that gets some succes nowdays and get this music alive and heard like everybody likes to say Toto sucks but they still are popular in the world except the Usa. and they still have albums on the top20 in Europe be happy for that so more people come and discover other great Aor bands to.

Just my two cents!!

I agree with the above statement, sure.
But this isn`t about “harshness for the sake of harshness”. This thread went haywire when someone (Rockndeano) said that Chicago sucks. What`s the big deal? Chicago does suck. Now what? Should people who dislike one band or another be sent to the e-guillotine?

Totofan, I think no one should have a problem with the wording here. I don`t believe “suck” is a stupid word or saying that a band sucks is a stupid statement. It is just bluntness.
I am with you on one thing tho. People who say Toto sucks, suck!

Bravo Joe. Freedom to speak your opinion is one thing, crude insults and hostile, vulgar anagonism on a popular public music website forum are quite another; whether directed at a band, a current or former member of a band, or another poster. IMO

I too believe people can speak in words which are more comfortable to the ear; but I also feel if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
This forum is not for the weak of heart. I enjoy it. I am happy to say that if I want to I can say what I feel about Espee and the PV Ladies. I think he totally did not take into consideration the fans of the other sites who might feel maligned cause of all times in the history of man he decides to let these ladies get in some kissin and huggin. We all know that Espee is not a hands on kind of guy. What the heck was he thinking. So there you have it and at least here I can say what I say and not feel like the hand of the mod will come down on me because I say what I feel and not what is politically correct. I think it was totally out of character. I just love that I can say it here. I mean he's not running for political office is he?

IMO the problem is that Deano says everyone is WRONG for liking who they like if he does not like them.

Deano can say a band sucks and why. He doesn't need to blow up, he doesn't swear...but most of all, he should quit telling everyone else that they are wrong.

It is an OPINION. There really is no right or wrong. Deano is not speaking "truth" when he says Chicago sucks. He is speaking OPINION. And if I disagree, that does not make me WRONG any more than it makes HIM wrong.

Deano, LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP!

You may consider it 'blunt'. But, it's also a hollow statement of opinion. If that opinion is then 'backed up' with incorrect 'facts', such as the 'a few hits' comment, combined with insults towards the band or the members, then you are moving from stating your opinion to doing nothing but attacking the band.. IMO, it gets to be a bit pointless and really not worth the effort of replying to.

I think that is what Andrew, and others, are having a problem with...not simply stating an opinion that 'Chicago sucks'.

I think all that needs to be said has been said.

I love Deano, but he lost the plot this week.

And I am happy to see just about any issue raised and debated here, as long as opinions are only put forward as opinions and not delivered as the only possible truth and as long as there are no personal attacks.

Anyone have a problem with that?

The only problem I will have Andrew is if
you let this place be turned into forum after
forum of Pansies and Rainbows.
I have nice flowery sites that I am active in as well as
sites that I do not participate.
This site gives me the edge and breath I need
at times.
No I am not a fan of uncalled for mudslinging but
I do love how everyone states their opinions differently.
When Dean'o and a few others around here post more
often times than not I am either laughing or thinking.
Two of my fave things!

Thanks for continuing to make the effort Andrew

Oh my goodness I am so tired of those Church Ladies at those Perry sites. I'm all for being yourself without explanation. This is the only site where you can speak your mind and not get your wrist slapped or banned cause you don't agree with the ladies in the front pew. I think this place works because we are able to say what we want within Andrew's confines and not made to feel as if we have to abide by the congregation.

Not sure why anyone would deduct that I would now change things completely and head in this direction. It's business as normal as far as I am concerned and when Deano gets over his issue, I'm sure he will return.

I just did my goo over certain posts deaing with the death of someone in the greater Jourey family.
I don't think any posts were needed and ho do you think those posts reflected on me, when Steve and Lydia may well read these forums?
That for me is just one subject matter that is not up for debate.

How about that new Chicago album XXX? It's great. If you like great ballads, and great singing, all with great songwriting, you may enjoy it.

Not everybody will like it... not everyone is a Chicago fan, so be it. There are lots of bands I don't care for, so I can understand it's not everybody's cup of tea. But I kind of think it's rare to see an album this good available everywhere. I did my part to support it, and I really think lots of folks out there who enjoy great melodic rock would like it, too!

Deano, I can respect your opinion that you don't give a RA about Chicago. That's cool... just don't go away..
