Apparently Augeri can't either. Are you suggesting that it's better to have a singer who has to lip sync than the original artist singing the songs in a lower key? That's just absurd to me. Don't get me wrong though, I don't really want Perry back with Journey. I just want him to sing.

He's not lip synching. Not buying that. That's trash from the haters. Yes there is some "help" during some choruses and most of that is really from Deen who is so good that it sounds spot on. I have enough shows on tape and DVD to know Augeri sounds different on them. More than most people here have I'll bet.

To be honest on the most recent shows he sounds tired and not as good in previous years. I will admit that. But I'm happy to be able to see them at all and recognize the limitations of a 47 year singer moreso than many who think a 57 year old would do any better in 2006.

I just want Perry to sing too. I'm thinking he would be very successful much in the same way Rod Stewart has carved out something with his standards albums. It would be good to hear him again and see the fans get what they've wanted for so long. Sincerely hope you get your wish and that it is enjoyable material. :D

Hatred might be too strong of a word. Besides I wouldn't put it in that context just because it really reduces the relevancy of the word. It becomes a catch all phrase for those of us such as myself who just pull it out when we are without any other word to describe what we feel. Close but no cigar. Think of the words of HH; he wouldn't spit down the throat of Espee if he was on fire...not much compares to that line. I'd give that a score of 9 off of the 1 to 10 scale of hate and to him it still might not adequately describe how he feels. So, hate becomes mis used mis spoken and mis calculated in our venacular.

Today, after reading that "some" still don't believe me, I am going to try again.

I threw on the Vegas DVD and played the generations concert from the Greek. Synched em up and both Lula and I sat in disbelief as the two are IDENTICAL until of course the last 10 seconds......

Yes, Lula believes and she is not only hurt, but pissed to be sure.

Here is the Greek:

And Vegas:

13,
I was referring to "facts" as in "something that has actual existence", meaning we were able to download some mp3s and listen. The rest is, as they say, is history.

Dean, I am a "he" and we actually exchanged some PM's over live shows awhile back that I traded Red13JoePa

I'm not going anywhere thank you very much. I haven't posted on BT in a very long time because I can't stand all the kissie face shit that goes on there either. Search "arrivalrules" screen name there and you'll see I very rarely post there so you're theory about me being one of "them" is completely wrong.

As for my live show collection, you got a few indirectly from me I can guarantee that. A friend of mine filmed the Baltimore show while I stood right next to him. Right behind the soundboard in fact.

Hold up here.
How long was the Generations tour? How many dates? And we have a handful of clips up here from songs that prove an entire tour was lipsunk :?: I'm still holding judgement until I hear something more official to the contrary.

Try doing that with the same songs on some Def Leppard, Boston, Kiss, Judas Priest, or any other bands shows. You will get the same result an awful lot.

How many shows are in your test group? Scientific this is not. Fact it sure isn't either. Seems agenda driven to me.

I think a lot of Perry era bootlegs sound a lot like Houston Escape. Maybe I should match a few of those up while we're playing conspiracy theory.

LOL. I wish I had the time in my life to do that. If I trade any of my stuff with anyone (still looking for the Beacon video from Generations) feel free to match them up.

Journey is only one of my favorite bands out of many. My DVD and CD collection is ridiculous. Mostly 70's/80's arena rock.

Lindsey Buckingham's guitar isn't plugged in when Fleetwood Mac play's Stevie's "Stand Back" in concert. (true) Damn Fleetwood Mac!

Why would we do that for? This is about Journey as we are here because we're interested in what Journey is doing, right?

I pop in from time to time. 8)

Don't even mind the Perry/Augeri talk when it's discussion. I like both singers very much, but the debate gets exhausting so I don't jump in too much.

Brad Delp lets Fran Cosmo sing all the high notes in Boston concerts. Don't tell anyone........

Ok. Def Leppard is WORSE than Journey, Boston doesn't play enough to get caught, Kiss isn't even real, and Judas Priest I could give a rats ass about. Doesn't make what Journey is doing right. Besides, Journey is supposed to be better than that.

How many shows are in your test group? Scientific this is not. Fact it sure isn't either. Seems agenda driven to me.

Ok dude. So if they only lip 3 shows that I have, and there were 30 shows on the tour, that makes it ok, since I only proved 1/10th of the tour..and the only reason I haven't proved more is I don't have any more shows.

I think a lot of Perry era bootlegs sound a lot like Houston Escape. Maybe I should match a few of those up while we're playing conspiracy theory.

Why bring Perry up? He isn't involved. Stop trying to make this a Perry v Journey thing. But while we're at it, I defy you to prove that Perry did anything remotely fishy like this.

And a proven entity is no longer a theory, but a fact. You are clueless, but I see that you have NIG, 13 and Liz on your side. WOOHOO.

Clueless? I never made it personal.

I defy YOU to prove Perry never used any tricks live. You can't, but you keep saying he didn't.

And if he was singing for Journey today he'd have to.

I am now saying that Perry lip synched the entire Escape tour. Prove me wrong. (and I'm kidding of course, but prove that he didn't anyway)

That is exactly how I feel ohsherrie, I just want him to sing. I don't need him to be in Journey. I believe Perry's voice singing in a lower key would sound just as GREAT, as he sounded in the 80's.

I'm not on anyone's "side". I hear things my own way, and base my opinion on what I hear and common sense. You have convinced me that tapes are being used. I just think it is not to the extent that you think it is, and I also believe it is more common among all bands than any of us would like to believe. Plus, it really doesn't affect my life at all, so I don't really care what they do.

There is "help", but to think Augeri is lip synching an entire 2 hour concert is the most laughable thing I've ever heard in my life.

Yes it is more common to have vocal enhancement than you would think. It is the rule rather than the exception. Especially with hard rock bands.

The usual method by many bands is to record in soundcheck throughout the tour and use the tape to enhance things during an off night. It makes things sound more "live" than using studio or well known live tracks. So many bands do that it is mind blowing.

Having a lead singer lip synch to an entire show though isn't done unless you're Madonna or one of those pop acts where it's all dance choreography.

But what do I know?, I am so "clueless".

Not really. It's mainly used to beef up the choruses, that's all.

BTW, I saw Journey play a 7 song soundcheck in Wilmington, DE back in 2001 at the minor league stadium there. Have the actual show on DVD (not the soundcheck though) from that night too. They played After the Fall during the check which was pretty cool because it wasn't in the setlist later that night.
