Here are some UNFAIR criticisms:
1) Bush lied about the invasion of Iraq. (PROVE IT..we all thought Saddam was a risk, and he did fund HAMAS).
2) Bush's actions or nonactions resulted in the Katrina aftermath. (PLEASE, the local government and stubborn unprepared people were as much if not more at fault. And the levies were ignored by MANY administrations. Kayne West can Fuck off).
3) Bush is a racist (PUH-LEEEZE. Condi and Colin and a pushover to Hispanics)
4) Gas prices are Bush's fault (Yeah..about as much as they are my fault)
5) The debt is Bush's responsibility (The deficit may be, but the debt is not. And budget surpluses only means over-taxation)
1) A country with no nuclear capability needs to be invaded, while countries like Iran and North Korea who have serious, known nuclear programs, can be dealt with "diplomatically." Three years ago in the buildup to the war, Bush couldn't even spell the word "diplomacy," much less participate in it.
2) Could Bush have pushed a magic button to clean up New Orleans the day after Katrina? No. Were there many, many things the Bush administration could have done both before the hurricane hit and in the immediate 48-72 hours afterwards? Yes. Publically congratulating the train-wreck that was Michael Brown just emphasized how completely detached from reality that entire administration was, and since then, numerous emails and documents have emerged showing just how unprepared and unresponsive they were.
3) *shrug* I have no idea. Bush obviously doesn't give a crap about the lower levels of the income ladder, but I don't think that has anything to do with race.
4) Bush & Cheney are so closely tied with the oil industry that you can't help but partially blame it on Bush...plus you add in his piss-poor handling of middle east diplomacy and him bombing the shit out of other nations...if Gore had won would gas be $1.20 again? Probably not. But Bush could do
something...even if it doesn't work, you have the best and most powerful advisors and government in the world, surely you could come up with a few ideas. Maybe they won't all work, but at least try something, make it look like you care. On the other hand, Bush's biggest campaign contributors are all pocketing billions from charging $3 a gallon, you really think he's going to alienate them?
5) The debt is every president's responsibility. A budget surplus technically is over-taxation. But to go from a surplus to a massive deficit in one year is huge. Here's an easy way to cut taxes: Stop sending hundreds of billions of dollars to Iraq and instead use it to help our schools...use it to fight poverty, use it to somehow encourage businesses to stop shipping jobs overseas...anything would be more practical than giving it to Halliburton. Obviously after we started bombing them out of fear of non-existant nuclear weapons, this is no longer an option. BUT...starting two expensive wars AND cutting (mostly) rich people's taxes at the same time is bad fiscal policy. No one likes taxes, but you can't pay less taxes while your government spends more, unless you live in Bush's world, I guess.
