I like Jeff but I'm not impressed with this to be honest.

If they needed to end the tour early then they would have done it if they really gave a toss about Steve's voice etc.

I reckon this is permanent!!!

Jeff has a great voice and it is going to be interesting to see if the fans merge or if a whole new battle erupts. If they write new music it will no doubt not have a Journey sound. Jeff is the type who will make it his sound, imo. He no doubt, will turn down Neals amps, lol.

Check out what someone wrote on the Noticeboard.

Kick back and accept the global JSS domination that is presently and without mercy about to take the rest of this tour by the throat and leave it naked and bleeding by the side of the road!

At the very least it's a way for the band to get out of having to make a comment on the whole lip synching thing. They can skirt right past that now.

I have my tickets for the July 11th show in Tampa and I have every intention of having a great time attending the Journey concert. I have a few JSS songs in my ITunes collection and think the guy has a great voice. At least I still get to enjoy Jon, Ross, Deen & Neal (and seeing my first concert with JSS). That being said...

I'm disappointed that Steve Augeri will not be fronting the show, but I'm glad he's going home to take care of his illness. I hate to think that he could destroy his amazing voice by not taking care of himself.

Steve Augeri - get well soon and take care of yourself bro - we love ya!

Here's to an amazing summer of Journey music!

I gotta tell ya, I was listening to the Shepherds Bush Empire boot of SS and JSS is really good. He may not sing Journey like Perry or Steve, but he sings it well. And this definately would be the type of vocalist that can affect change in the band.

I am going to miss Steve, but I think it is going to be a good show. I feel so bad for him but it is a good move. I think I would feel better if they had just cancelled and "stood by" Steve. This tour will now test the waters to see if people are willing to stick by Journey through another lead singer change AND to see if they can change to a completely different style of singer.

Kevin would have been the far far far better choice. Sounds more like Perry at times than Perry, plus is his own singer and writer-ERIC

Mark & Brian sited the vocalist change this morning, mentioning Melodicrock.com. They also said 'maybe that's why they were using tapes'.

I'm glad SA is getting the rest he needs, but I don't think JSS is going to be a permanent replacement. They need someone to handle the entire catalogue and to be able to hit the notes as close as possible to what's 'expected'. JMHO, I don't think JSS can. That said...this may be Neal's vehicle to take Journey to a less melodic place altogether. Definitely a wait and see.

Steve, rest up man and heal quickly.

and thanks to Dean for keeping them honest.

In a way, yes...When Neal started devoting so much time to SS and basicaly ignoring Journey, I thought it was VERY possible that he would make SS his main thing and Journey the side project. Now he has basicaly turned Journey into SS.

If Soto stays in the band. Reviews, fan reaction and chemistry with bandmates will probably dictate what happens here.

Memorex, you are right, I simply wanted an answer as I stated many times. (as heated as things got and I was even involved in a few).

They still haven't REALLY answered and I'm very sure they won't now. I don't care what the official site people say about having a release Friday. Too much time has slipped by, and the press release that is on MR's front page is so poorly written that there's no reason for me to believe that S. A. is coming back at all. This is simply a convenience point for Management and the band to get out of talking about the allegations. Sad, very sad.

They should fly you out for a show for the superb way you handled this, Andrew.

Anyway, glad Steve is able to rest, glad the tour was not cancelled and I hope to catch JSS at some point.

Should be interesting to see the same tour with two different lead singers. Three, counting Deen.

Let me get this straight....according to their own statement, Journey was aware of Steve's throat condition BEFORE the tour even started..................and they hit the road anyway?!

This fact is what convinces me SA had little to do with the tape issue or the pressing on of Journey. It looks like he is not to blame, because he would be crazy to subject himself to such injury by choice.

You can take what you want from that I suppose. It's been a weird set of events eh? Negativity online, all sorts of rumours, fans killing each other basically, then this happening.

I don't know what to make of it all.
