I've read those reviews about Jon as well. I wonder if he is a little threatened by JSS's strength in song writing? Maybe concerned that a new alligiance might be formed between Neal and JSS?????
But the thing is, this is the scandal that keeps on giving. There will always be a mental asterisk next to this lineup live for some, much like there will be for Barry Bonds and his records since MLB won't do anything about his records. People have a long memory.
Well, it looks like Neal wants to take the Styx attitude and put a band out there that rocks more than it does ballads. But I also do think that Neal realizes he needs to play songs like "Open Arms" and "Faithfully", while Styx stupidly now ignores "Babe" and "The Best Of Times" (yet put drek like "Yes I Can" on an album). Ross isn't going to rock the boat, and I doubt Deen will go anywhere. I think Jon will have to re-adapt to another strong songwriter a la Perry, where he was used to only having Schon around to contend with for the most part. If Jon can get past it, it may be good for the band. It's not like JSS hates ballads, either.
