Deano, didn't you say that the 2001 DVD was recorded live in Vegas, but was re-recorded in the studio? I could have sworn I read that.

Exactly why I said performance. Either way its pretty damn convincing.

Before you tell me that music is different today, tell me why we still hear Don't Stop Believin, Wheel In The Sky, Any Way You Want It, Open Arms, Faithfully, Stone In Love, etc... on the radio. I am not talking oldies stations, either. The mainstream stations in East Tennessee play these songs, and not just in an "80's lunch hour".

East Tennessee must be behind the times to the tune of 1986. Put on anything other than a classic rock/oldies station in the Washington, DC/Baltimore area and you will NOT hear any Journey on the radio.

That's a fact. Try listening to them online if you don't believe me. Report back when you hear anything. MAYBE, during the oldies electric lunch or something if you are really lucky. DC 101 and 98 Rock are the biggest stations in this area.

Same thing holds true for Southern California. I'm having a really hard time believing any mainstream rock station would play Journey at all. Maybe Tennessee is just "different" somehow...

With a screen name of finalfight and just 25 posts, I see you are fresh from Kool-aid Central to spread happiness and sunshine in the name of your fallen hero, Mr. Lipsynch? I think the Aussie-boss mentioned he'd be monitoring the new posters and you definitely fall into that category, there sunshine. :D

I think it's a Midwest thing, because Journey is played on the Pop stations here still, and not just during the nighttime national radio shows, and obviously the Rock & Classic Rock stations as well. There's a reason why Journey used to start their tours in the Midwest.

That may very well be. I'm in the Indianapolis area and, though I don't listen much to radio anymore, I still hear them occasionally here.

I don't know why, but I had this illusion that they were played in California a lot more than most places, just from what my friends tell me about hearing them all the time out there, throughout the state.

Why does everyone assume that people who still enjoy Augeri are all trolls from BT?

God forbid the man actually have fans outside of that forum.

Nope...I think Connecticut Classic Rock Radio beats them ALL.

On any given day, any hour, you'll hear at LEAST 2 Classic Journey Songs as you flip from one station to the next.

...and THEN add on all the NY / Long Island stations that do the same thing!

I expect to hear them on classic rock stations for sure. It's this notion that Journey would be getting played on mainstream rock stations that I'm talking about. Def Leppard couldn't get a whiff of airplay on the X album, and last I checked, Joe Elliott has never left that band.

My point is that we all like bands that are basically dinosaurs today's music scene. Nothing wrong with that, but it's just the truth.

When somebody comes in here with 20-some posts under their screen name, posting how GREAT Augeri sounds or performs, they aren't gonna be some new fan off the street that just "discovered" him. Give it a rest. These are the same idiots that won't give Soto a chance. Now can we please get back to talking about radio airplay? I live on the east coast and have a couple stations that are considered a mix of classic and contemporary who both play Journey. It seems like everytime I'm getting in or out of the car, BAM, there's a Journey tune!

Since you're apparently quite concerned about people "toeing the line" around here, a review of what the "Aussie-boss" had to say at the start of this thread might be a good idea for ya:

http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/vie ... hp?t=17463

BTW, just a heads up to you that pulling the post-count card out is usually a sign of a troll, or someone who 's already lost the debate at hand, or both.

And FWIW, my posts are in the "20-some" range. I'm neither an idiot, nor someone who won't give JSS a fair shake. I quite like the guy, and have seen him perform several times since the mid-80's. He shredded on Yngwie's "Trilogy" tour, and I've been a fan ever since.

Just to let you know...Radio 2, the No1 station in the UK plays Journey on a regular basis, on saying that the average age of the DJ's is 55! They would never get onto Radio 1 which is youth orientated.

Just for my amusement, will you answer a question for me? Is ALL Radio and TV "State owned" in the U.K.? It's getting bad enough that almost everything seems to be owned by Clear Channel over here anymore. From Radio stations to concert venues.

Far from it, there are lot's of independent stations over here but I tend to stick to Radio 2 which carries no advertising, imagine a station in the states with no advertising...bet there isn't one, it couldn't be possible could it?
Hope that amused you some!

Aahh, radio stations with no advertising, we have those here as well. Not a bad thing. In my country we have a state owned radio rock channel streaming from the internet, playing nothing but Journey, Survivor, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Ten Years After, Tull, The Stones 24 7. Nice 8)

who cares....sure you're not getting the UK mixed up with Russia? It's a fact that almost 65% (or something like that) of Americans haven't a clue where places are outside the US, it amazes me how Styx and Journey managed to get over here, must have been a Bristish pilot on the flight...eh?

No presenter, just track after track with a short jingle every 30 mins or so. Pretty nice. And there isn't much repetition of tracks either.

no, don't care much about Russian stuff...

It just seems that since we don't get as much of any info pertaining to that kind of stuff, we only hear about "State" owned stuff, mostly in Britian. I'm only asking because I don't know. I only wish we had more ad free radio here. I dont' keep up with radio or tv stuff in other countries though. I'm only used to hearing things like BBC1, 2, 3 etc. Not meaning to lump them together if they aren't one and the same company though.

I know what you mean about most North American people not knowing anything outside the U.S. I'm a stickler for Geography and knowing about different countries when I can find the info out. I have that very problem with people not knowing where I'm travelling to when I leave the country. I figure it's sometimes a good thing, then they REALLY don't know where I am at. If people outside the U.S. think we here are aloof to those kinds of things, they're mostly right.

I'm glad that Rock bands make it to "far away places" than where they come from. The more fans the merrier.

oh, and yes, classic rock for some reason does sound better in a classic Mustang. ('68 convertible here)
