I thought of that. Seems like a total sellout, along the terms of Def Lippard "singing" covers. Totally lame.
Fernando, I have your CD, and love it. What would you say, as an artist, "Hey Fernando, care to tryout some other singers for an album?"
I would think you would say, "Fuck no."
Am I right?
Dude, thanks for the props. But if I had some really great big name singers that were willing to sing some of my songs, damn straight I'd let them do it!! It would be great publicity for me... I would release the CD and make a hell of a lot more money than I do now. For once I would sell some copies here in the USA, and not just mostly in Japan like I do now. But I would only do it if the songs were mine. I would own the original recordings and copyrights because I wrote the music and lyrics... so they would have to agree to that, and just sing my material.
I mean, come on, if somebody like Perry came along and said he wanted to do an album with me, damn straight I would let him be the singer!
But what i was saying about JOURNEY was not for them to put out a lame covers album like the recent Def Lepp travesty, but do it the way SANTANA did SUPERNATURAL. It worked really well for him... he's never really been able to hold onto a good, decent singer since Rolie left him. So he said screw it, I'll just get a lot of singers on my album. I know EDDIE VAN HALEN had the idea to do what Santana did, like back in 1985, just before he hired Sammy.
