Any album.....a farewell album, whatever you want to call it would definitely be landmark!

Being a big Kansas fan...The reference in the above lyrics probably has something to do with the mythology of Icarus. Icarus was the one who made wings of wax and flew too close to the sun, melting his wings. Hence, he flew too high. In fact, Kansas has two tunes with Icarus in the title: "Icarus-Borne on Wings of Steel" (from "Song for America") and "Icarus II" (from "Somewhere to Elsewhere").

Being a huge fan of KANSAS myself, your assesment is absolutely right on. And, both of the songs you referenced are outstanding (for those that may not know).

I think you're confusing Joe Walsh and Steve Walsh, the lead singer for Kansas.

Any Kansas fan I know would be insulted for Steve to even be mentioned in the same breath as Joe...Steve is/was a MUCH better singer.

I used to have the album it was on, Yngwie's "Inspiration". I've always though Soto's voice sounds much huskier on Yngwie's tunes, more like a Ronnie James Dio than what he sounds like on his solo, Talisman, or Soul SirkUS stuff. Kinda strange considering he was younger back when he first hooked up with Yngwie.

You took the words right out of my mouth. The band would have to be totally stupid to give up what they have now, only to be screwed by Perry once again.

And to answer the question: No, not unless hell freezes over, which isn't going to happen.

It's not Lora Beard. She posts here very rarely, with her own name.

Distant Voice loves to play people. The only posters who believe him/her are the gullible loons, because when it comes to their Portuguese god, they believe anything.

Where do you come off saying SP screwed them?He hurt his hip jerk! And yes i am very pro Perry and will always be. I will believe it when i hear it from him or from Lora and untill that time i will not believe anything.

I wouldn't say I was a "big" fan of Joe's...but, he certainly has contributed to a lot of good music over the years.

His voice ain't what it used to be, that's for sure but he sounds a heck of a lot better than he did back in the early 90s. It's amazing what cleaning up your act and taking care of yourself can do.

True. Yeah, years of "hard living" definitely took a toll on Steve's voice. People talk about Perry's voice...but in his prime, Walsh had a voice that was as good as any. I'm glad he's cleaned himself up. Now, if he could only write some good songs...

I guess we need a KANSAS forum for this conversation.

Yes, this is absolutely correct. If one reviews much of Kansas' catalog of songs, they'll realize this to be true.

New to this forum, true enough. But, not new to music.

I've seen KANSAS play live about 50 times dating back to the mid-70's. So, I know first-hand of what I speak. I've met Steve on several occasions, and he is a good guy. My comment was mostly a joke (note the laughing smiley on my post). Steve would be the first to tell you that his voice is not what it once was. But, how many 50-something vocalists can still hit the notes they hit when the were 20?

He would be accepted with "Open Arms." Most of his fans have accepted that he might want to stay out of the limelight and enjoy a private life but have always hope to hear his voice one more time. Bring it on home!

Still, it's amazing how much better he sounds now than he did 15 years ago. His voice was really shot around the time of "Live at the Whisky". I was at the DVD show and had chills going up my spine because he sounded really good, almost like the Steve of old, during some of those songs.

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!

Why he's Distant Voice, of course. And he has always claimed to "know" stuff about Perry. Of course nothing he has said up to this point has happened. Now it appears he is saying it was being discussed, but didn't happen. Makes himself appear to be correct even when nothing has happened.

Well, I've saying for, I don't know 10yrs or so, that Steve Perry will never release another solo album or tour again.

Didn't need any inside info to be right all of this time.

Steve DID screw them! He never had any intention of touring with Journey again! The hip thing was just a convenient excuse! I'm not saying he didn't have a hip problem, but I am absolutely convinced he was never going to tour and screwed every member of that band by not promoting the album, not performing at the Grammies, not touring, etc. etc. etc.

I'm gonna guess that it's not going to happen though, unfortunately. I love hearing new stuff from him. Even bought the "Quest For Camelot" soundtrack. 'cause it had New songs by Steve Perry. $12 down the drain but oh well. LOL.

Exactly where is that? Opening for Def leppard. They were selling out all over the country when Perry was with them. If they get a chance they need to take him back and go back to headlining.

So what you are saying then is you knew what he was thinking at the time? No you don't and i do not buy it at all he would all. I feel sure there were problems but i will always feel he would have toured with them he was getting ready for the tour when it got hurt. I just wish everyone would stop talking for him and let him tell it.But he has already told us the story.

It is rediculous how some here make judgements & blame Perry for everything under the sun. He had medical problem & He HAD to take care of his health.

You seem to think that Perry screwed the band members because he had a medical problem that "required medical leave", so by you judging Perry this way, I guess you would probaly feel Augeri screwed every member of the band too, when he got his chronic infection in his throat that caused him not to be able to sing any more????
