Though I was pissed that I was being ripped off by a lead vocalist who, um, doesn't sing live, I think the crucification should cease...give the guy a break...yeah, he screwed up...but dont we all sometimes..??

Leave him alone, enjoy the current lineup with JSS ( I am trying, really I am..sure I'll get there soon ).

SA aint comin back.

JSS is here to stay.

Perry is NOT goin' back to Journey or vice versa.

And that folks, is that.

Let's learn to live with it.

Cheers

OK, I'm gonna try this. I will not say anything mean or rude about Augeri starting right now. And you're right, he probably has been crucified enough. Let's see how many people are willing to do this, or at least give it a try.

Initially, I don't think that was the case but, yeah, it seems that some have kinda turned it into that now. I don't have a problem with speculating on whether or not JSS is in the band for good or if Augeri will return. But heaven forbid if you should mention that you think Augeri will return OR just hope he will return and your ass is nailed to the wall. Screw that stuff. Let's talk about the music, share boots, have a good laugh at each other, and shoot the crap.

Oh, so I ruined it? Hey jackass, I am not the one who lipped. Augeri deserves anything he gets.

I haven't heard evidence of that yet. Augeri's tenure from 1998-2004 way better than the 1986 era.

I totally agree. From the studio, Augeri gave us the goods on 2 1/2 great albums. I was just never "Blown Away" with him live after seeing him 3 times pre-2006... but I enjoyed it all more than the ROR years for sure :)

IF you are saying you didn't like what and how everything went down in 86, then I agree...however, to say Augeri years are better than anything Perry did, well then you need to check yourself in. It's not comparable.

Neal is better for sure, and Deen is definitely an improvemnet over Baird, but Cain is Cain, who cares about the bass player, and of course Perry blows Augeri away.

I am saying I prefer Journey from 1998-2004 over Journey 1986 (ROR era). ROR was a dark time for the band. An embarassment when you compare it to other eras. Journey 1998-2004 is far more preferable to me than the clownish ROR era. Just look at Matthew's avatar.

What's up NIG, not part of the DAWG POUND?!?!?!?!?
I totally agree with you. No slap at the musicianship or even Perry's voice, just a really mediocre album and tour, in my opion.

Me too, the six years were far and away better......... more touring, and more music released, anyone who thinks otherwise is just being "Perry-headed"

rehearsal ain't gonna fix notes that are out of the range. Rehearsal will fix missed lyrics. Missed breaks. Missed harmonies. But if the songs are out of the singer's range, more rehearsal is just going to aggravate an already stretched voice. I hope the guy took two weeks off and rested his throat.
Now, we'll be able to see if he indeed does have the pipes to pull it off.

A dark time? An embarrassment? In 1986 Journey sold 2.5 million albums...had four hit singles...and had a big stadium tour...

That was in just one year. Compare that to the six years between 1998-2004....Arrival sold 250,000...Journey got dropped from their label...oh...I don't need to list all the indignities, do I?

Maybe it would be more accurate to say you don't like the mid-80s? Every band looked slightly ridiculous at that time - and as for Randy...well, his look might have been a little more...er, 'experimental' than say, Neal Schon's pink Miami Vice jacket...but 'clownish'? :)

You simply cannot compare 1986 to 1998 and beyond. It's a totally different musical environment.

Yep. And you and Co-Captain tapegate were the MAIN offenders of Perry mockery until you took up writing serials.
