It makes absolutely no sense for a veteran politician with '08 aspirations to pull a 180 and start unleashing on soliders while campaigning for a colleague to get elected.

Well, Kerry isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the proverbial drawer now is he? If he really is just joking about President Bush, he needs to keep in mind that Bush's grades were at least equal and, if I remember correctly, slightly better than his at Yale, a school they both attended at approximately the same time. I guess Kerry needs to learn his history a bit better, eh?

I'm firmly ensconched in the middle class and my tax rate definitely went down with the Bush tax cuts, not to mention a nice little tax rebate we got in the mail that year. Boy, that was really a bad thing.

There are some who fall under that designation but I would be willing to bet that many of those end up dropping out of the military ASAP because they can't hack it. Regardless, they're certainly not the mindless mirmadons that Kerry makes them out to be.

I LISTENED to Kerry's comment last night and I think he just blurted out "... they will end up in........ IRAQ!" I was more shocked that he would BLOW it like that right before the elections than what he said... I think he honestly feels that way (as I do), but he's allowed because he is a VETERAN!! Sorry, but Bush and Cheney and those others are elitists--you all must know that!! (And yes, I know Bush was in the National Guard, or whatever...) I just hope Kerry's comment doesn't have any effect because I am looking forward to hopefully turning out some of these goofy Republicans from Congress!!

Let's give a small example. A former neighbor of mine several years back ran for and was elected mayor of our small town, he had ideas on becoming governor of our state eventually, and frankly at the time I thought he could do it. I knew his family very well, still do. Ok, so maybe I didn't know HIM as well as I thought I did. He got stupid and started messing around with another woman, he had a beautiful and loyal (too loyal?) wife at home along with 6 kids. OOOPS! So much for the political career. Like so many trade school rejects that inevitably find their way into the armed services, you espouse a disturbing "shoot first and ask questions later" methodology.

According to a study that I heard about on the radio today (and I haven't verified this) the average member of our military has more education and comes from a higher average income than does the average American citizen. I wouldn't be so quick to think that they are "trade school" rejects.

I'm curious--what do you think will happen when/if the draft is reinstated? Who do you think will get drafted? And, by that I mean, do you think kids in college or college graduates already in the workforce will be drafted first? I hate this war, and I have a feeling it is going to drag on for a while... How long can these guys that are being rotated in and out of Afghanistan and Iraq take it? It makes me feel sick with worry for our young guys...
