I 'm not so sure you want to go there.
I've yet to hear a decent live recording of "Signs of Life".

I still want a live Journey cd with Jeff & Deen singing. Maybe I'll ask Santa, lol.

For the record: I met up with Benson and discussed this. He absolutely told me I was full of shit. Shows how much he knows.

Steve perry's voice might change, but that's NEVER what made him the ARTIST he is. It's ALWAYS been about his delivery. That is, the way he was able to sing every line of every song in an emotive way that seemed to transcend music, while combining passion and song in a way no other has done before or since. Period.

JeremyP wrote:Thanks for those clips Susie. So far I've only downloaded Perry's "Wheel In The Sky" from the ROR tour, but I'm gonna give 'em all a listen.
I just wanna be clear on one thing: I'm not trying to convince anyone that Steve A's live delievery is better, even though I feel it is, and I'm not trying to turn anyone against Perry or try to alter their perspective towards him in any way.

I don't have a version of Jeff singing Faithfully. Except for 1 or 2 shows, Deen has sang it this tour. I'll put up a version of Deen doing it. He has a beautiful voice. It's interesting to compare these singers like this. If anyone has Jeff singing it, maybe they would put it up.

You could clearly hear he was struggling, mightily...even on the low notes! Too bad nobody can find a recording of Jeff belting out Faithfully with Journey! I'd really LOVE to hear that. Perhaps someone has it somewhere stored away in their audio vault. We can always hope!

I have audience boots of those shows. Trust me. There was a LOT of work done on the Vegas DVD.

I'd really like to hear some examples if anybody has any that they can post. I've wanted to hear an audience boot of it since the dvd came out. I'm always suspicious of any commercial live release. I always wonder, "But is that how they REALLY sound?"
I did think that the clip of "Wheel In The Sky" from '99 was just as good as the Vegas version though. (Thanks again Susie, I don't know why yousendit hates me)
