That list is way out......Bon Jovi has sold more than 100 mil, not 37 mil. Also I thought Journey's GH was there top selling CD to date, not Frontiers.

The RIAA publishes numbers as well - they are used for gold platinum and diamond awards.

List of Diamond awards

Overall Artist List

And you can do a search by "Journey" at:

http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/default.asp

Most of the above is also on our J2TH website.

RIAA screws it up too - sometimes they are reporting US markets only - and as far as Diamond awards, GH was awarded 1/06 - in 1994 Escape was M(9) - only 1 million from a diamond award.

The lists are based on the latest certification numbers - however certification is only done by request and that is usually done by the artist's label - Journey has not had a label in a while.

I wrote Legacy to see if they would order a recert on Escape hell - a recert is only $800.00.

good lord at least edit it down to the specific thing you're talking about if you're trying to point something out in that list.

It's not hard to believe Frontiers would outsell Escape. Frontiers would have had the benefit of promotion from MTV videos which was one of the biggest reasons for the increase in record sales in the 80's. Escape didn't have this same benefit. The popularity of Escape helped sales of Frontiers without a doubt, but I believe that the emergence of MTV was the main reason for higher sales of Frontiers.
