Ok maybe I'm weird but I love the Rocky movies, esp. I & II. So I'll see it eventually I'm sure.

But Adrian's dead now? :( Well that just sucks.

A Rocky movie always seems to be on at our house - husband loves 'em, but I just loved the first one...saw it at the theater when it first came out & was quite impressed with Stallone's writing/directing (hey, does anyone remember him in the "Lords of Flatbush" with the Fonz before that?)

Thanks for the invite, but I have to work. I just got home from seeing it....I am absolutely jacked up. All the haters who like to make fun of Stallone should just pound sand! This movie had all of the classic elements of the first one. Sad, compelling, yet bittersweet. The final fight scene was filmed like an actual fight. Very realistic. SO much better than Rocky V (which I liked)!
A tremendous success for Stallone. I applaud the hell out of him for pulling this off! :D

Adrian died of "woman's cancer", as Rocky called it, about four years prior. It adds a lot of gravity to the plot...well done!

Wow. That's all I have to say. This is the best peice of work I've seen Sly do since the first Rocky. Just wow. The emotion was so high the whole flick that it kind of makes you sad the parties over...

Yah there isn't really that soundtrack that briings you up. However, this film was not designed for high flying tracks and just leaves a good impression on you as a person and seeing a legend for one last time. Down to earth movie. Loved it.

I think if you like I and II, this is the perfect ending. This could really be Rocky III. As much as I liked III and IV, Stallone was more of a super hero in those movies. Not very real. I liked V, but it is nowhere near as good as the new one.

Yah when he exposes his body for the first time when he takes off his robe, it's like are you fuckin' kidding me? Ripped to shreds and hard to believe he is 60 years old! And don't remember he's gonna be even bigger for Rambo IV. You seem like a Stallone fan Moose...What do you think of Rambo IV?

I am a huge Rocky fan and this was a fitting end to the franchise. It has it all and kudos to Stallone for getting this done. I'm sure it was not easy to do. Great movie - get out and see it this weekend and make it #1.

Of all the sequels it is the most like the original Oscar winner, in that Rocky's life and the quest he is is on in the film is paramount, even to the boxing sequence. Like the orginal, the fight is the payoff, the reward for going through the drama of the first hour and 20 minutes and seeing how the match complements that.

It was actually more of a joy to see Stallone go throught the Philly streets as that character again after all those years and NAIL it to a t then it was to see the match.

My negatives were Tarver was (I guess as expected) horrendous as an actor, no Father Carmine, no good melodicrock like Journey or most criminally Survior for either the training sequence or the opening or closing credits.

Kellerman was cool as the only announcer who gave Rock a shot in the final bout. Larry Merchant was pretty bad, as was the other ESPN talking head who delievered horribly the bad embarrasing "pounded chicken" line. Cringeworthy.

Positives were the beef punching, Spider Rico, having Duke back as trainer, Conti's score, the run in the snow with the dog, the training sequence, and Stallone's performance escpecially the speeches to Jr and when he broke down in the meat house w/ Paulie.

The city looked great, bleak when it needed to be and beautiful when it needed to be.

Thanks,Red,appreciate the details. :)
Sounds like Sly was inspired enough to keep the "essential Balboa" in the script.Too bad the soundtrack didn't complete the nice work.

I am more eager to see the movie now.Especially for this:

Like the orginal, the fight is the payoff, the reward for going through the drama of the first hour and 20 minutes and seeing how the match complements that.

and,of course for the run in the snow with the dog.
I'm helpless.

Thanks guys(especially RedJoe, spoken like a true Philadelphian ). I had decided that I just wasn't interested, but now I am. I loved the first three Rocky movies but I was afraid this would turn out to play like a parody. I'm so glad it didn't.
