Give JDouble the 10 he's most comfortable with or most challenged by, go in the studio w/ Elson and record it, press 50,000 of them to start with and that's that.
Shit, it doesn't even have to be limited to Perry material. Jeff's getting real good reviews for the FITH rendition and I'd love to hear him tackle The Time, which is from a record Neal said he wasn't really satisfied with the recording of anyway.

A limited release to the hardcore fans might be okay...it would be novel anyway to hear Jeff sing the classics...I'm sure he'd do a great job...I just wouldn't want to give anymore ammunition to those that think of Journey as a "nostalgia act".

Exactly why I say limited, maybe internet site only release.
Those like me who want it will find it there and pay for it.

Except...won't this pretty much be the case for the album of new material too? Let's not forget that Journey do not currently have a record deal.

I think they'll get a label for the new original album (and the proposed Journey covers record if they WANT. I just think they'd clear more [or lose less?] if they pulled a Red13 and put it out themselves). If not Sanctuary, then a label like Sanctuary will pick it up.

Red13JoePa wrote:Yea but you know what, Matthew?
When you look who's playing in the so-called "big-leagues" aside from The Police, Genesis, The Springsteens,The Stones,VH and at most times Aerosmith and Bon Jovi then who gives a shit to be at that status?
Right now, as fouled up up as the industry is, the suits are picking fake cookie-cutter manufactured bands with ZERO shot at staying power to be in the big leagues. These psuedo bands will be in and out of the bigs once big music brother decides. And he has A.D.D. so that's usually in short order.
I had this talk with Dean just the other day and we were debating the laughability of having a 30-year-old rock band who's not able to book stadiums anymore or arenas by themselves as our band of choice. My stance is that those who laugh at the journeys or journey fans, what the hell's in THEIR cd collection? The new shit that gets played on the air NOW? If that's the case then the last laugh is ours, because even though that junk is popular right now (by force, more than talent or listenability of the music) most of them are gonna be gone so fast their heads will spin. I LIKE our music way better than this thrown together talentless shit that's on top for the most part now.
And to paraphrase one of AR's finest hours I'm GLAD we have the bands that Andrew reports on here touring and recording. When the flash in the pans have had their 15 minutes up in the rareified Stones air mentioned above then flamed out, the Journeys, Foreigners, Styxs, Survivors, Bostons, REOs a LOT of the bands supported here will continue to be able to make millions doing the right sized tours and playing it smart with their unsupported album releases.
What a windy post outa me.

Ya.
Glad my sincerity, and the heart of my post really RESONATED within you.![]()
They're right about us. This is not the Harvard of Journey boards.
bluejeangirl76 wrote:Well, it's already been remastered.
If you mean reRECORD, then....uh... no. Why on earth would they do that?
You can't fuck with with what WAS. Those songs are part of Journey's history. Leave them that way.
To rerecord them with JSS would just send a message saying "Hey, we can't do anything else, so we're just going to cling to Open Arms and Lights for the rest of our careers." And that isn't true.
We know Jeff can sing those songs, but it's time to see what he can do in his own spotlight, not Perry's. They're two very different singers and what Perry did with Journey stands as it is. What Jeff will do will stand as JEFF'S.

I could understand a live CD or DVD, but I can't think of any good reason to try to reshape those classic songs with any thought of introducing Jeff with Journey.
