Negative. Although a lot of decisions go higher than 'band-level', Friga wields WAY more power
in this band than most give him credit for.

And it's very easy to believe that Neal and Jon weren't aware of the extent Elson was
'supporting' Augeri. Those IEMs aren't pumping out what we here thru the PAs.
I wouldn't be surprised if all the guys on stage, except Augeri, had Augeri's vox
muted in thier IEMs and were just catching what they could from the FOH PAs...
Probably thought things were going pretty well if that was the case

Honestly CH...I haven't come across such blatant spin since I last logged onto BT to take a look at how the Augeri Loons were airbrushing Perry out of the band's history.

Irving Azoff and Steve Augeri were in on it...but Schon and Cain didn't notice? Whatever!

Nice. I won't escalate, but rather say, this site rewards a musician when the musician deserves it, and this site tears the livin shit out of a lipping singer, when it's deserved.

It's deserved, trust me. Your act is tired. You can't save the Titantic.

Right...and if this site IS "anti cheating", then why the hell aren't you boycoting the whole band? It's really amazing to me the way some seem to put the whole tape gate thing at Steve A's feet...what- the rest of the band just didn't know? They were in the dark, while Steve A and the sound guys covertly pulled off this elaborate charade? Hardly...if you're gonna call yourself anti cheating, then spread blame all the way around.

Dude, we are trying to state the obvious, without really saying the obvious. Jesus Christ, Do we have to spell it out for you? The reason he gets the blame, is because he was the weakest link, the only weak link, and he could have stopped the train from moving, before it derailed.

I don't know...I've kept quiet and read what folks have posted over the past 12 months or so on this, and the thing that bothers me is more than anything is that I feel the band AND many of the fans pushed Augeri under the bus when this thing happened. Hell, the guy was in a bind, and was trying to keep his gig. Could any of us claim to have so much integrity that we wouldn't do the same thing if confronted with that dilemma?

YES.
I can say I would NEVER pull this shit. Never. And Jeff is on record saying he would never do it either. Last time I checked, Mr. Perry never faked his way to a undeserved paycheck.

I don't mean to sound inflamatory. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm really just posing some questions. Hell, I like the band better with Soto, and I think when they do get around to recording again, it's gonna rock my ass off- much more so than any of their post-Perry work.
But what the hell do I know?

The stop bitching about the ten fold improvements of this band.

I still think Perry's gonna come back before it's all said and done...

That my friend is a dream. Kim Jung Il has a better chance of fucking Shania Twain in Switzerland than Steve perry coming back to Journey, sadly.

OOOOOOOO!!!! I just made the great Deano shout me down! I feel...strangely priveliged...

I like JSS AND I think it was a good decision on the band's part to move on as Augeri's voice was toast after 8 years. I just think if you look at this MESSAGE BOARD (NOT you or your website information which has always been very fair and absolutely PRO-Journey) overall and you are being TRULY honest, it is far from pro-Journey and very far from appreciative of Augeri's 8 years with the band. Let's be honest.....

100% wrong, again.

Go research the last 4 years. Everyone here, save the loons, were ALL supportive of Steve Augeri, and I hasten to add I was more vocal in support of SA than anyone here.

Try again, loser. Crying about what's happened in the past will not change things. Get a life.

Exactly! Many of us were VERY supportive of Steve Augeri.

Had he walked away at the right time, I would sing his praises. That didn't happen however.

Not really, Matt. It is basically still the same. I did get called on the carpet, so to speak, for saying what Neal said about Augeri being 50% back vocally. They said I had to provide proof, or it was just a rumor. I fired back saying "You don't do your own research?". Then I said that I would do the work for them and provided the link. I also told them I don't spread rumors.

I just had the itch to go in a stir things up........... :D

Well, I did say that I believe that Augeri won't tour this year, given the percentage of vocal abilities. That didn't go over well with one of the mods. That is why I had to provide proof of what Neal said in the Classic Rock mag interview that should be out over there soon.

Aw, the Heads/Loons were BRUTAL with the guilt on Andrew back in the day. Some of them still pop in now and again....The old crew remember these halcyon days, people like NIG, TNC, RND Abita, J28, Liz, the late, great NoMoreTails, Yak, Amaron, LAWoman, Monker, Fred, HOTSIE, PF, PP, OhSherrie others I may have forgotten...
The attempted spin was that by "allowing it" Andrew was just as guilty of the perry bashing, when in reality half the fucking time I don't even think he SAW the offending posts...he HAS mentioned here, and I hope he doesn't mind my saying (TNC also saw this and has brought it up) that one of the reasons Steve's people cited before as declining to interview for MR was some of the anti SP tone on the Journey board.
It goes on now, too, just with AugeriDriveByShooters (TM Strangegrey on that).

And I say that admitting that I LOVE the Augeri era records, the dvd and all my boots from that time. I just don't see the connection between what people post and Andrew's stances on things. And I realize it's his site's board but unless it appears in a post by 'Drew or one of his articles on the front page or the site I can't say that HE MUST THE SAME WAY THAT POSTER DOES. :?

As someone who NEVER supported Augieri, I can testify that this board was very pro-SA for the first five years he was in the band. When I postulated that Hugo, or preferably Jeremey, should have been given the gig, I was routinely shot down faster than Pat Buchanan at a lesbian bar.

Anyone who makes it personal with Andrew - or anyone else who initiates intelligent discourse - goes on my s**t list.

"Hello. I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is: No."

I know Rockin' Deano isn't and many arent and this site and board is VERY pro-JSS and even more so pro PErry but, for me I liked the albums SA sang on and most of the songs better than the last 2 Perry cd's and I just wanted to know as a fan if anyone has any knowledge if he's better, singing again, performing or what have you!

If I may be so bold (as I, of all people, shouldn't talk for anyone here)

This board isn't pro-JSS, it's anti-fraud. JSS isn't a fraud, he's the real deal...so that's why this place is pro-JSS.

The facts are the facts...and you can't run away from them. If *anyone* can attest to that, I can...I was on the wrong side of this fence for quite a while and squared off against Deano about it. But the facts are the facts. Once you consider looking at this with a cold, hard eye...you get pissed off that you've been lied to, made a fool of and bamboozled ( can I even say that without getting smacked hard?)...Is Journey, as a whole, culpable? Maybe. Hook raises a very good point in that each musician, thanks to todays mega-channel monitor mixers, can have an independent IEM mix. It's very plausable that the rest of the band was in the dark on the extent of lipping. I'm sure they knew some bit...but MAJOR blame has to be assigned to the guy that skulked out on stage, faked it, took his share of ticket revenue and never once, backed off and said "For the greater good, I need to step away". AR's right, the guy could have stepped away, saved whatever he had left of his dignity and done the right thing. Deano's right too....SA was perfectly happy prolonging this as long as those around him were letting him.

So is this place pro-JSS? Sure, if you consider that this place is pro-good, pro-integrity, pro-notfuckingloyalfansoutofhardearnedcash, pro-realsinging.

Sorry, I know I'm late on 8-ball on this.....but the more I really think/contemplate about TG...the more pissed I get. It's not the type of stigma I wanted one of my favorite bands to have attached to it!...and it really pisses me off.
