no magic to it at all....

What do you mean "no magic"? Honestly, that song never had any magic to it to begin with. The crowd probably didn't recognize it and probably wasn't that much into the song. The band doing the song with JSS doesn't make it lose its magic.

Dude, were you with me in Louisville or was that a different show? I thought Augeri kicked ass during that show and on "Remember Me."

I saw them November '98 and they did that song. Neil broke a string shredding during the solo. His roadie hurried a new axe back onstage and he picked up right where he left off, barely skipping a beat, or note for that matter.

Well maybe they can get David Copperfield to sit in with them next time so you can feel that magic.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I agree.

The song was never up to Journey standards....not even close. And to see it performed live, I don't get it. I'm all for seeing Journey move forward, and able to play new material live....but to just play new material for the sake of playing something new isn't the ticket. It will satisfy only the existing base, and won't attract any incremental fans.

Journey songs, from studio to live, have always been know for their raw power...flying melodies, etc. If their new material is lack-luster, what's the point?

I don't disagree that the song did not live up to the "Journey" standard. However, at that time it was a new beginning, and many of us did like the song. Seeing JSS sing it is pretty cool. He nailed it!
