That Place should be condemned. The ugliest shithole I have ever seen aside from Oakland, CA.

Deano, only some parts of downtown and North Philadelphia and where the stadiums are located is it ugly..obviously you have never seen Villanova or the Main Line or any of the suburbs...they are gorgeous..The Main Line is where the Bailey, BAnks and Biddles live and where Grace Kelly grew up...etc...all the old money of our country.
You would really be surprised how beautiful it is...

I lived in Pennsylvania for 26 years and never visited Philadelphia. I'd certainly love to go there sometime, though.

This ought to make Moose happy - Yes the mainline and some other areas are very nice places to see and live and visit.
Like any other major metropolitan though there both goods and bads. While not a zealot like some other posters, I DO like Philadelphia, but conversely I will give an honest answer when asked an honest question and not just defend come hell or high water.

Well..............you did not make Moose happy. Not that you really care..

The fact of the matter is that we can all take shots at a given city if we wish to. No city government is perfect...in fact far from it. The thing that burns me is people who claim to be civil servants........(i.e. firefighters) that blast cities for their lack of whatever. All cities have their issues. Philly, NY, SF, LA, whatever! What makes it great is when it's fine citizens....and Philly has many...speak up for themselves! God damn...........if chf34mac hates PA so much.........MOVE!

Moose,

We could go back and forth about this for days. I have no interest in that. You have your view of things and I have mine and based on our conversations thus far we are VERY far apart on some things.

And I have no intention of moving.

The biggest problem in Pa is that 1.4 million warrants have yet to be served. It was on Drudge yesterday. Well, maybe if your lucky they all went to another state. I hope not Ohio.

Hate to tell you ALL this.

The West coast cities are FAR AND AWAY nicer than anything on the east coast.

Not comparable.

Any city you name, the west has some better.

San Francisco
Seattle
Portland
Vancouver(Finest city in World)
San Diego(Finest city in US)
Santa Barbara

Agreed Deano, the west coast cities are more beautiful but Philly is definitely not a "shithole", only a few sections are...
south Philly has the best restaurants in the world especially for Italian food...
I lived in San Diego for 10 yrs. and it is truly beautiful but the bread and pastries suck.. and if u want seafood you have to go to Baltimore!
Of course the best weather is in SAN DIEGO AND sure do miss it...
nite all!

Baltimore has great seafood, but can't compare to san Francisco, Seattle or Vancouver. Not even close.

Hey I was born and raised in South Philly...2 streeter, Mummer and people who live or lived here will know what that pertains to. Yes Its Jims Steaks at 4th & South, and 118 S 18th street would be 18th street between Chestnut and Walnut. Lived 2 blocks from Tony Lukes at Front and Oregon. Have since moved 48 Miles North of Philly but still go to the city frequently and yes there are issues everywhere..but alas Love it or leave it !! ;-)
