Yea, but is this 'change' only a change that would
happen to get Perry back or could we see it
happen anyway?
That's the big question right now.

Only to get Perry back. Azoff would butt-fuck a squirrel for that reunion. I would too.

To be honest, "better" is a relative term. Without being unappreciative or disrespectful toward Jeff, I honestly have to say that I would rather see a one-off tour with Perry than 10 more albums with ANY singer. Journey has ALWAYS been my favorite band and Steve Perry my favorite singer AND artist. I've never had the opportunity to see Perry with Journey. I'd give anything. I've been waiting for over 20 years. It's really not about who's "better." It's about filling a void in my life.

Horrible notion.
Know what, too?

You wouldn't even get a one-off tour. It'd be aborted long about the halfway point and you'd be OK if that meant you never heard from Journey again?

Well, I understand where you're coming from. I feel the same way about Journey and Perry. But I think it could never live up to your expectations. It's like wanting to see Joe Montana play one last season, even though he is well beyond his prime. Sometimes the fantasy is a lot better than the reality could ever be.

Exactly. See, this is the ONLY reason that I would love to see
Journey get inducted into the HOF someday. If they did,
I'm sure all primary parties (Perry, Schon, Valory, Cain, Rollie and Smitty)
could set aside their differences for one evening and celebrate
the acomplishment together, onstage, for an amazing one-off that would
leave us long-time fans in ecstacy.

But i would rather have a few more great albums and tours from the band,
with Jeff, than a one-off tour with Perry that would surely put the final nail
in Journey-the-Band's coffin.
Think about it...
They do a tour with Perry. There would be
NO WAY to go back to anyone fronting the band.
It'd be impossible.
Welcome to Terminus... You hungry?

Great post Carl. :D

A while back I said on here that I would rather have a one-off with Perry than anything with any other singer. I've changed my mind now and feel exactly what you just posted.

We have the best of both worlds right now. #1 We have JSS with tons of energy, ready willing and able to tour his ass off & make new music. #2 Get your Perry fix = go see Jeremey with FRONTIERS.

That's what I do and I am a very happy Journey fan. :D

Everyone has brought up good points. I was simply answering what would work for ME. As for "impossible expectations," I really don't think it's about what I would expect. It's more about what I want to witness and be a part of. It's like The Rolling Stones. I'm sure there are 50 singers out there who can do Jagger better than he does himself today on the older songs. Do the fans give a shit? Obviously not. It's about a certain group, and the chemistry and aura that exists with that, and ONLY that, combination of people.

While a Perry-Journey reunion is just not going to happen,I'd die happy to see ONE Perry fronted Journey performance. The HOF event would be enough....

SJ, I know exactly what you're talking about. It would mean a lot to me to be able to see Journey with Perry just one time before Steve and I are too old for it. I just don't think I want to give up on Journey with Jeff for it right now. We can't have it both ways. It's either Journey/Perry for one night or Journey/Jeff for several more years.

I love me some Perry, but I like me some Jeff a hell of a lot.
