Do you want him to apply for a greeter position at the local Wal Mart?

He could start a new trend of retired rock vocalists becoming musical Wal Mart greeters. Imagine hearing "Welcome to Wal Mart" to the tune of "Any Way You Want It".

Sure...that's just writing.

But then there's the working with a vocal coach, which is no small thing.

and the showing up at studios more often.

He could be coasting, he could be working, he could be retired. Bottom line tho, he's not sitting on his butt in Maui or playing golf 18 hours a day.

Did anyone ever have one of those moments where one of these threads pop up and it really urks the shit out of you..to see that STEVE PERRY is retired from singing. God damn this is one of those nights for me.

It feels like when Dale Earnhardt died from racing..

He needs to stop the bullshit and just sing 1 damn song that's IT, all I want. 8) 8) 8)

This whole retired shit makes me think back to the Behind the Music episode, where Perry says he's been thinking about touring again.

That was SIX fucking years ago. Six. 6.

And then there was the Walk of Fame cocktease... and the hands all over HIS Journey material.

What a fucking phony. You throw some millions at him and he'll be belting the shit out again.

Gotta love $teve Perry.

I agree with saint john. I don't think it's ever been about the money for him. He does things now and again when he gets the urge and if that's what he wants, so be it. Unfortunately, that was also part of his downfall. He lost the urge before the ROR tour was over. He lost the urge to finish the FTLOSM tour. He lost the urge to tour in support of TBF.

Steve Perry is probably worth somewhere between 50 and 100 MILLION dollars. With his tame lifestyle, I highly doubt money has ANYTHING to do with him not singing anymore.

Then why do you only see or hear from him when he can get his music played or his face plastered everywhere?

You don't see people like Peter Cetera pulling this shit.

Just be thankful the dude's not willing to pop on Journey's 81 DVD, mouth the words and take your money like the band did! Maybe he respects you too much?

I can only speak for myself and say I honestly dont feel that way. I still have great joy
playing all the music he sang on, which is YEARS of recorded music, I believe your
commenting specifically on the T.B.F. tour. no doubt the band felt that way. my opinion
(no facts at all here) is that the deteriation in his vocal range has played a part in his
exit from live performing. Its kinda of a shame they didnt get an earlier start together,
the first time we heard Perry he was about 27 ? or 28 ? probably missed a good 6 years
of his voice in prime condition.

No, Cetera isn't as successful as Perry. Cetera wouldn't get as much attention either with a solo tour OR a reunion with Chicago, for that matter, as Perry would by himself or with Journey.

I agree Dave, I think if Perry rejoined Journey for one tour, they would have to book venues like Texas Motor Speedway. Places that hold 200,000 people. It would be a monster.

I wouldn't go that far but I think they would probably be able do a stadium tour. Maybe not the bigger outdoor stadiums but possibly smaller arenas, 15-25,000 seaters.

I don't know bro. There's a huge core fanbase, plus the casual fans. If they did a tour of 10 shows at large venues like that, they could make a killing.
