So in other words Jeff wanted to go in the direction of new music and the different direction Jon was talking about meant different than Jeff's in that they just want to keep doing the nostalgia thing.

If they had just told Jeff that, he probably would have agreed that it wasn't a good fit, and left amicably. Why did they do it the way they did?

Fuck, the dude wore a Perry wig for a joke even......What a shame. Friga and Schon are truly fucked up and crazy!!!

Do you think Schon and Cain also feel that this gives them the best chance, except for Perry returning, to get into the Hall of Fame? Just a thought.

I'd almost be willing to bet that it won't be Chalfant. He's got a good voice but I think they'll go with someone slightly younger whose voice is apt to hold up better.

What??!!

He says: "Soto came in," said Cain. "We were grateful for his energy and his time and his talent. We had a good 11 months with him."

But, don't bother calling HIM (JSS) up & letting HIM know?? :(

That's what bothers me the most. At least give the guy a courtesy call, for crying out loud. I'm sure they even afforded Augeri that luxury but JSS was supposed to be a bud of Neal's. Here's how I figure the conversation went...

Azoff: Guys, this whole thing with DSB being on "The Sopranos" is your ticket back to the big time, except you'll have to dump Soto and get someone else who won't steal your thunder too much.

Neal: Yeah, man. Jeff took too many eyes away from my awesome guitar playing and botox-enhanced face on this last tour. Who's going to call the chump and break the news?

Jon: Ummmm....Not me. I can't fake that crying crap anymore. I'm still spent from that "Behind the Music" episode a few years back.

Neal: I say we just crop him out of the photos on our dogpile of a web site and notify him via morse code.

Azoff & Jon: That's the ticket!

I thought that when someone says they are worried about their legacy, that means they want to be remembered in a positive way. Interesting to want to secure your legacy as a bunch of ass-clowns. Way to build a legacy there, John.

I'm just plain not paying money for a tribute band. No offense Jeremy, but my anger is to the management and supposed 'leaders' of the band. They HAD their answer in Jeff, and they screwed him and us over. Buh bye.

Question: since whoever fronts Journey is going to be singing 95% old material anyway, why would a guy who is a dead-ringer (vocally) for Perry make Journey a "tribute band" whereas a guy who is brilliant in his own right but sounds less like Steve NOT make Journey a tribute band unto itself? The same people who have called for Journey to be "true to its traditional sound" also wanted the band to "enter new territory". That is a no-win situation; you can't have it both ways.

The new singer should have been hired ON THE SPOT when Augieri went down last year. JSS was the best thing that had happened to them since they fired Fleischman, however.

I've been in a lot of bands in my life...once I found out I had been replaced by seeing my band's name in the paper for a gig no-one had called me about, and I was hired to (unknowingly) replace the guitarist's ex-girlfriend while she was in rehab for heroin addiction. This kind of shit, horrible as it is, goes down all the time.

I think Journey could have cultivated a lot more respect from fellow musicians if they had kept JSS and moved in a new direction, and probably cemented their place in the ROR HOF somewhere down the line. Nonetheless, the new singer is amazingly talented and will certainly, in the long run, put a lot more fannies in the seats. The whole thing tears me up.

"We just wanted to move in a different direction sonically. We're interested in our legacy right now. We want to sound like our records and we want to sound like the 65 million units that are out there."

Wow!! Interested in their legacy..... too funny! Where was the interest when they let their lead singer sing along to taped vocals? I guess they really are choosing a direction that finds safety in Perry's shadow. I can't believe these guys are content with living in the past. So then is it safe to say they'll just milk the fans for every last penny playing the greatest (Perry) hits and be content? If so, how truly patheitic. How sad that the new life, the excitement that was seen on stage was so short lived.... wasted talent.
Until we meet again, may God

They have nothing left. No creativity, no credibility with the fans, once they take on a Perry impersonator they will have lost all credibility with their peers in the industry. Look at what Brian May thinks of them. You know damn well they will be view in the industry as a joke. I hope they enjoy whatever money they get touring their Vegas style act, cause they are a joke now.

%#%^&*!!

Remembering Clearwater this year, Jeff's own 'announcement'.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPX2dAQ3gvU

Can you just hear the thrill in his voice...? He was so happy. It hurts to watch this, hell it hurts to watch any recent footage with the band, but of course, this one especially

For someone like Jeff that has been in the industry for so long, knowing the ups, downs, hardships, and excitement of performance, to know that in the one place where he felt 'at home', with a group of *supposed* professionals, he is backstabbed like this after he salvaged a major tour, it's just low, so horribly low.

If Jeremey gets the gig, I will support Journey SOLEY because I am rooting for Jeremey to succeed. Jeremey is your average, 9-5 everyday dude from my parts of the woods, and if anyone deserves his shot at national acclaim, it's Jeremey, but not Journey at this point. Even if Perry came back and was in top form, I'm not sure how I'd feel about the band. I'd probably still love the music, but like someone else said earlier....Journey has become exactly what they have always hated - a corporate rock band.

Speaking of support, I will continue to support Jeff as well. He is definitely deserving in hitting it big, and that isn't because he's been disgraced with Journey, it's because he's been fighting for survival in the music business for years, and has also fought for recognization for melodic rock music.

There are only three choices for "sonically" sounding like Journey vocally:

1. Hugo Valenti
2. Kevin Chalfant
3. Jeremey Hunsicker

Any of these guys are friggin great. Hugo and Kevin both have established themselves as great singers and song writers.
Jeremey may be a leg down in the demonstrated song writing department, but is argueably the best pure vocalist of the three. Good luck to Journey in their recovery from the current situation.

Dude,

Get your emotions and personal connections aside. You know that list is right. Any of the those three guys BLOW Soto away in a "sound like Journey" contest. Are you drunk dude? Soto is a great vocalist but sounds nothing like what is expected. Go back to your posts on this very board a year ago and read exactly what I'm saying in your own words. Dude, I love you bro but this post is pure bullshit and you know it. I sound more like Journey than Soto does. I'm not saying I'm better, just more like Journey. Damn dude, get it together.

The only dick eating has been you bro. I can't believe you can still type with JSS's cock in your mouth. Go back and read yor own post from a year ago. Fuck dude, get it together.
