A Joke?

Postby Muggins » Thu Jun 21, 2007 7:09 am

Well there are so many rumours, it's hard to believe what's true! I just don't think this is the best choice or rumour I've heard and will probably alienate most of the fans who will see it as a joke! Can anyone else confirm? Would they really be so stupid as to replace Jeff with a cheesy tribute band singer! Surely not... and don't call me Shirley!

Why is it so cheesy and lame to be a Journey tribute singer before you join Journey...as opposed to becoming a tribute singer after you've joined them?

As far as I know, no cheesy tribute singer is in the running. Image

quote] To funny this thread actually helps Journeys decision... Think about it look at the results Steve P in the lead ...they can't have him ...so they'll imitate him....The hard core fans will care of course they where all waiting for the new sound and Jeff...Then they went the low road (go figure) and went for the imitator...they'll milk this for a little while then slip away quietly into the night!

Not a fair question as all those Journey songs we love are made for/by and sung by SP.
We've heard those songs in that rendition about a million times, how can anyone ever compete with that?
But when I look at Jeff's career I can only conclude... allround, Jeff is definitely the best singer of the ones listed!
...what made me thrilled to see which direction Journey with this super-talent would take... *big sigh*

Yep. Hugo and Jeremey are NOT in the same league.

That's why Jeremey should NOT be the next singer of Journey.

JSS should be Journey's singer. If not him, then Hugo.

Although why either one would want to associate with those backstabbing a-holes is beyond me.

I think it's unfair to list that final category as "Tribute Singer". Especially considering that the "Tribute Singer in question "Jeremey Hunsiker" of frontiers is a better singer and a better fit for the Journey style than either Augeri or Soto. I don't care if he was a garbage man yesterday. If I go to a Journey show tomorrow and he makes me feel the way I felt when Steve Perry was still belting it out int he 80's, then Journey's made the right choice. Period. Get a clue folks they aren't interested in trying to change their sound 30 years into a legacy of melodic music. And it wouldn't matter if they were, they still wouldn't get the time of day from current labels or current radio. So it would be a losing proposition anyhow. The route they are choosing is the one that make the most sense. Enjoy Journey for what it is, and not what you wish it would be. Let Jeff Scott Soto go do his own amazing thing in a band where "his thing" actually fits... It was painfully obvious all tour long that it wasn't the right fit when Deen had to sing all the ballads because the way JSS sang them just wasn't the right feel. He's got a monster voice no doubt, but it just isn't right for Journey - It doesn't have the softness and tedious attention to detail that Steve Perry's had. And Jeremey's will also have, by the way.

For all you board members who keep falling over yourselves and fawning at the feet of Jeff Scott Soto like he's God's gift to rock vocalists, at the same time slagging off Jeremey as tribute band singer, get over yourselves!!! Jeff Scott Soto was practically a tribute singer himself when Schon decided to use him to salvage an already booked tour that would have stood to lose hundred of thousands of dollard had they bowed out. Lest you all forget, JSS was doing Journey cover songs, Queen cover songs, and had in the past made a career out of singing other peoples songs ala "Malmsteen" etc... See the folling links all recorded befopre his joining Journey in 2006:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQzj1Le0oHQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5kTtE96dNA

If you just can't stand the thought of Journey any more without Jeff Scott Soto, OK, go away and like some other band from now on, but quit lurking around in a Journey thread like it matters anymore... If you're that pissed off. Have some pride and go away. Follow JSS to his next "project" - or go listen to your old Talisman CDs till you're blue in the face. But, either way, get a life.

I, for one, will be the first in line to buy Journey tix to a show featuring one of the most talented voices in all of rock n roll (JH) when the time comes next year!!! Long live the leagacy Journey sound - If Steve Perry no longer has either the balls or the voice to pull it off. Let Jeremey belt it out!!! I've seen this guy 4 times live, and it's the closest it comes to the real Journey sound back in Perry's better days. So get off his back already. He's the real thing, and he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet.

Kevin Chalfant.

Seriously, there should be a rule against posting biased or incomplete polls. How can one create a poll and not include all of the most prominent candidates? Are the polls limited to four options or are the creators just too lazy to type all the options in????

Ope that's it folks, I guess we have to do what this person says. NOT!

We will follow exactly who we want, be it Hunsicker, Soto, Valenti, Chalfant, and at least one thinks Hagar.

Everyone of us in here has an opinion, and they are just as valid as yours. It's a shame that you don't think Soto did a good job with Journey, I think he fit like a glove. So what Deen sang some of the ballads, he digs that. There were also a few shows where Jeff sang every song because Deeno wasn't well, and he sounded fantastic.

I don't give two shits what your take on Jeff is, the only thing that's important to me is what my take is. I don't have to run along and follow Jeff, I can stay right here in this forum and discuss Jeff, as he is, was, and always will be a part of Journey. And for the record, I think Hunsicker is a brilliant singer and will do a great job for Journey. I just don't know if I can stomach Journey anymore because they treat people like shit. I prefer not to associate with people like that. Does that mean I shouldn't post here? You can ask Mr. McNeice that, I don't think he minds.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
