Man does he know how to convey them through his voice. Listening to sweet and simple just rolls my joint ! Wish there was a karaoke track of that one because I would love to take a stab at it now that my voice is getting back in shape.
STORY_TELLER wrote:I'd say you hit the song about as well as Augeri did. That being said, I didn't think Augeri had the talent level to be in Journey. JSS has better pipes than Augeri. Just more sophistication in his delivery (which comes with the better chords).
Don't get me wrong, you're hitting the notes, but it feels lifeless. You have no vibrato in your delivery, no subtle feathering to your vocals (like perry). Just hard, on point notes. I'd cheer for you at a karaoke contest or in a cover band. But being in Journey? Sorry brother, it's just not there. They need someone with some serious vocal talent to front that band or it's over.
Sounds harsh in the written word, but I'm not trying to slam you. Just being honest.
Liquid_Drummer wrote:Dont take that last comment too much to heart. You are better than the singers in a shitload of bands out there making it big. Journey fans are all insane and suffer from OCD and like Rush fans they notice every little nuaince of everything. If Ross farted on stage during Chain Reaction someone would write a review of the show and then a review of the fart !

whocares wrote:np, I'll have a listen to the songs in a bit. But i trust that if a few other people here liked them, that they must be decent.
whocares wrote:ok, so after listening to Oh Sherrie and Seperate Ways, Admittedly on low(ish) volume, because i didn't want to wake my daughter, I'd have to give you props for doing a damn fine job. I wouldn't audition for the band, if you wnat to keep your dignity and or voice, but good job. Will listen later when I can crank it up louder.

You have just been forever disqualified from an audition for referring to yourself in the 3rd person.

Actually go record this with Nora's lyrics and post it here!!!!!!!!
"Lame Reaction" (to the tune of "Chain Reaction")
I bet you, Neal's the one
'Cause now his, Band is DONE
Those changes
He puts you through
Down 3 Singers?
Oh Man, they're SCREWED!
I bet you, Frig likes to say
"Make phone calls? Not me; NO WAY!"
He's not sure
If the Band is done:
But, Steve Perry sang "Lights";
From Journey, he runs....
Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
They won't surrender, or lose control
So now it's, not a mystery
Jeff Soto is
Their latest casualty
They mumble, "You'll take the fall
Just like the last time
But, maybe we'll call..."
In motion, it's on its way
Neal wants The Spotlight;
Somebody's got to pay!!
Those changes
He puts you through
Down 3 Singers?
Oh Man, they're SCREWED!
Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
They won't surrender, or lose control
Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
Jon's "The Friga"
And Neal's "The Fro"
So now just where will they go?
Tell me where
Down down
down down down down down down down down down
DOWN!!
DOWN!!
DOWN!!!!!
Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
They won't surrender, or lose control
Lame reaction, to Singers with Passion
Jon's "The Friga"
And Neal's "The Fro"

Oh P.S. - enjoyed the music - great job.
On Jeff's next tour, he should take the stage to "Take This Job and Shove it!".

You may want to forward that Weird Al... you may get a decent response and some royalties... LOL
Not my work.
Seriously, if you record it that way and post it here, you will be a hero!

OMG! You're a deadman!
**at the audition**
Clarkesville: (quoting the above) Well, Mr. Schon-Guitar, in my opinion, lead singers need more than good chops in a band... they need heart, soul, conscience, and devotion...
Response from short-one: Hey this is my band and we won't tolerate that attitude around here.

I'm done.
