There is a 'pinch' that occurs in the back of his throat when he hits the high notes, that's more similar to Geoff Tate of Queensryche & other metal singers who sing from the back of their throats to get high notes. It changes the vowel sounds dramatically which makes it not sound so Journey anymore. Perry had a special way of anunciating his words & changing this is where you truly know SA sounded nothing like SP. The 'white soul' SP had on all his songs is also missing, JSS I think was the closest to bringing that soul back to the songs even though he didn't sound like SP.
As well, he is quite pitchy on this one, especially the high notes. I know it's live & no one is perfect, well Perry was rarely ever pitchy but they were his songs! This song in particular gets up there but unless you can hear yourself properly in the mix, I can understand pitch problems can occur.
Again, props to JH, he sings better than any of us herebut this performance on this song is mediocre at best.

well said, Sherrie!ohsherrie wrote:I just read through this thread. I hadn't been back to it since my first post. What bullshit.
For at least the last three years, and maybe before that, there have been almost weekly notices, udates and reviews of Frontiers shows and occasionally audio and video clips from them. There have also always been occasional such threads about other tribute bands and that was all good, but Jeremey has always been the overwhelming favorite here on this board.
Now though, because Journey has shown interest in Jeremey it's no long acceptable to talk about Frontiers here? Now we're sucking up or "hero worshiping"?
I fail to understand how the rotten way Journey treated Jeff has anything to do with how we feel about Frontiers and Jeremey. Those of us who are fans of them and are still supporting them aren't the ones who've changed. Hell yes Jeremey is our friend. So now we're supposed to stop being his friend because Journey mistreated Jeff?
The people who have been here all along and are now down on Jeremey because of Jeff are the ones who've changed. The new ones who weren't here before what happened with Jeff don't know enough about the history of the relationships on this board to be running their mouths.

They should play "Be Good to Yourself", "Girl Can't Help It", and "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever", and POSSIBLY "Suzanne".

I believe he did all those songs on Saturday night. He definitely did BGTY and Suzanne (I can't remember for sure about GCHI). I may have some of those clips as well if anyone is interested.

p.s
the bug that crawled up my butt was you asking neal & co too hurry up & make it official. OUCH!! }:C\ plus i don't think certain people are as innocent as they claim to be. they probably knew jss was out before jss did. all this happened WAY too fast. i could be totally wrong so i'll zip it... just a gut feeling though.
i bet jss thought he knew how to communicate with neal & jon too. }:C|

ohsherrie wrote:I doubt that I could ever again be as totally pissed at Journey as I was when they replaced Perry with Augeri. I never liked Augeri singing the songs, but I never stopped loving the music and the Journey that made me a fan.
I have no problem with Jeremey fronting Journey if he should be lucky enough to do so. In fact, I'm looking forward to it. I loved Jeff fronting the band and I will always be a fan of his no matter what he does. I'm thankful for the opportunity to get to know a new, incredible talent that I probably wouldn't have known about otherwise. But if I stayed with the band after what they did to Perry I don't see why I would leave now.
I don't see why somebody who can't even listen to the music anymore would care who fronts the band.
