You have got to be kidding? Neal IS THE REASON I was a Journey fan in the first place!

Now, I'm not going to stick around long enough to take in any feedback. I don't even care what you have to say. However, I have to say that I would thoroughly enjoy Neal playing solo/no singer anytime! HELL YEAH!

Bring it on, Neal! :D

Neal *was* good!? Hell, he *IS* good!

But to answer your question, he has a 19 yr. old son, Miles, who is A-W-E-S-S-M-E!
He's very muxh like his dad but also has a unique style of his own..check him out.

Bonnie, our wires are crossed--I was talking about SRV... I know Neal is good and he's still alive!! Maybe he just likes to do tours at big venues these days.

Has Neal's son done any recordings that are available to the public?

I'd love to hear some!

Neal would have to be part of a MULTI artist gig to get an audience. Nobody outside of his generation of musicians and a few die hard Journey fans know who he is. He's a great guitarist, but he is no SRV. There's Neal, and then there are the guitar players who play well AND sing. Those are the ones that are more likely to cross over to a solo act. But yeah, Neal could probably fill a bar as a solo act.

Bullshit
. As good as SRV was, Neal Schon is better. Neal can play everything, better than SRV, period.

Let's not get carried away and let our emotions cloud the rightful talents of this guy.

Stevie Ray and Neal can be classified as pure, natural talent. I don't think its right to compare the two, as they both dominated their own particular style of playing.

Hummmm, that would be ME! Would love to see/hear him play PB, LN, BtT or Voice...he's awesome in my book.

Or, if he choose to play with Vai or maybe Carlos or Greg..that would be awesome too. :)

I would be there also. He IS an awesome musician. His business decisions are not the greatest but I would definitely see him on stage by himself.

Steve, no offense, but you're wrong here. Neal has a great solo career. He won a Grammy, something Journey has not done. Hell, If I was Neal, I would go the Santana Route. Have special guest singers on an CD and see what happens.

I agree with you to a point. My point is he couldnt pack 7000 seat venue billed as Neal Schon. He could go the guest singer Cd thing and that might work.Other than Journey fans and musicians,he is not that well known to the general public. When he did Soul S. most of the people there were Journey fans.Thats why Jeff did the Journey medley

I was hoping he might consider playing at a venue like the ACL not only for selfish reasons but with a crowd made up of a lot of college kids, his reputation as a great guitarist might get around faster... Neal may not care about that, though, or maybe they have even better plans. But him showing up at one of these festivals or smaller venues and playing with some of the acts would be.... (I can't think of a good word.)

The multiple vocalist isn't a bad idea but they'll accuse him of copying Santana. I don't see it happening. Neal has had a great solo career but he hasn't won a Grammy. He was nominated in 2002 for Voice.

Now that's quite a statement.

"Neal Schon is a better guitarist than Stevie Ray Vaughan."

I hope you're just basing this on personal tastes.

I enjoy a lot Neal's solo work and can't believe Voice was nominated over Beyond The Thunder or Piranha Blues. A couple of the songs on Voice I can't stand (Hero, My Heart Will Go On). Picking those two songs to cover says "sellout" to me.

But to say he's BETTER than Stevie Ray? Not in my opinion, but I'm interested in knowing your reasoning.

SRV was a truly brilliant blues player.

But Neal Schon is brilliant at just about every style of guitar.

You can honestly argue that Neal is just as good of a blues player as SRV was. But beyond that Neal leaves SRV in his dust in every other category as well.

I floors me when some people on here say that one-trick-pony-guitarists like Malmsteen, SRV and Van Halen are better than Schon. Those other players all have some highly impressive aspects of their playing, and to a certain extent I'm a big fan of them, but their honestly not as great of players as Neal Schon.

Grammy awards, while nice, don't mean shit. Hell, Journey sold 70 million units and never won a Grammy. Why? Critics hated them.

SRV was awesome, but you seriously think he can play the shit Neal does? Melodic, metal, blues, whatever?
