I still say Steve Perry never rejoins this group or plays live ever again. Just my gut feeling.

But the thread is definitely on par in theory. He was literally the guy that single handedly prevented this band from taking over the world. They could have been bigger that The Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen and U2 combined.....After Frontiers they had a momentum that was literally unstoppable. Then, the firings happened, ROR was released....a 10 year freeze, that 3 song EP TBF was released....and the fake hip injury.

In 83, Journey was on the cusp of being bigger than a country. By 96, it was systematically picked apart and tossed to the wolves by Perry. Neal and Cain finished the job for the next 10 years thereafter.

However, now, Perry is in a position to march in, like a white fucking knight sitting on the saddle on Mel Brook's Miracle....and save the day. It's really depressing....how someone that has done so much damage, to be in a position pull everyone from the pit of hell.

It's like getting caught at out at sea during a storm...your boat sinks and the only thing you have is a life vest...then along comes a boat, with naked women, beer/wine, food, and Hanibal Lecter at the helm. He throws you a rope. Do you take it? knowing full well after you've had a nice meal, ravaged a few fine lovely ladies, sucked down a few bottles of wine....that Hanibal will eat your liver along with the girls' livers....with a fine chianti and a big fat fucking helping of fava beans.

Me, too.

I'm in, audition photos prove nothing.

Anyone else wanna join the future "I told you so" club?

What about the existing "I Told You So" club that the Loons have been running for nearly a decade now?

Image LOL, he's got ya there, Niggy!

This one won't involve the use and/or insertion of sandalwood soap.

At this point in time it seems more like for every 10 fans that leave, 1 fan stays.

Except that Frontiers sold less than Escape did...so this was hardly a sign of "unstoppable momentum", Strangegrey. In '83 the band would have known that they'd already peaked...

One of my thoughts (not that I believe it's going to happen, because I don't) is that Perry doing something, anything, now could finally kill this s(t)inking ship. Not returning to Journey - no, fuck that. I don't even want to see that (but god, you wouldn't be able to tear your eyes away - like a 5 car pile up in the making!). The fact is, no matter how many times that man opens his trap and says "I have not been with the band since May of 1998..." - he is STILL the one they run to - not the current band - when they want quotes and comments about anything related to Journey in the media... when the DSB business happened in June, I saw one comment by Cain, one interview with Neal, and about 7 or 8 with Perry.

If he were to pull any kind of comeback now, (IF - I said "if") Schon and Cain would be left standing in the middle of tumbleweeds staring at each other. Actually a few reporters would probably come sniffing around the two of them with questions like "Now that Steve Perry is doing this, that or the other again, is there any chance of a reunion?" - but that's about it.
You are so correct bluejean. Simply stated.....Perry IS Journey, although you would never hear Perry admit that. It would be a dream come true if this happened, but I honestly don't think Perry has any intention of doing that, he's riding high right now, without doing ANYTHING.

HOWEVER, it would all be worth Friga and Fro staring at each other with the dumbfu** look on their faces....
"as long as they have to carry DSB as their banner, it looks like Perry will be right there with them as an overseer, ready to wield his veto power on all things Classic Journey." As quoted by Don on 12/7/2010

ROFL! Things are truly in a strange state when Steve Perry is being compared to Hannibal Lecter.
And do I hear the double click of a photoshop program being opened? (*snicker*)
The sad part is that it's true. He could ride in like a knight but on Journey's end, would the money worth taking the bait?

I came across statistics that said worldwide Frontiers outsold Escape by about 10 million. Something like 28-18. Frontiers era was clearly the band's peak.
