I think I did ask him if he wanted to sing a song, and he wanted nothing to do with it! I think he's been out of voice for a while, and probably that combined with his religious beliefs keeps him away from the microphone. He's playing keyboards for a band in Cleveland called Gotham City, but he says he doesn't sing anything in the band.

I just can't imagine not singing any more. I'd have to be throatless and comatose to ever shut up.

Hey whatever makes the guy happy. I have to say after talking to him about singing that it was as if singing seems so taboo to him now. Cant understand that. Religion and me just dont mix because I cant understand why someone would deny their "god given" talents and just do nothing with it but again if it makes you happy.....

I will post some more stuff tonight if I have time and try to tweak the sounds a bit more but remember that I am trying to polish a turd here and what you may have heard might be as good as it gets. Ummm, anyone have any suggestions ? I am using cakewalk sonar 6.2 to work with the audio...

Yeah, different strokes. I have a very religous family, and I am constantly pestered to "share my gift," and put it to God's use. I think anyone that has a talent or ability owes a bit to their maker to give back in some way. But people's beliefs are what they are, and if that's where he's at, then no one can take that away from him.

Jeremey, from what you know of him. If the guys would have invited him out for an audition. Do you think he would have gone?

Ya know Jeremey,

I gotta wonder if he is resentful at sounding so much like Perry. I mean the guy could do original music if he wanted to but talk about pigeon holed !! I spoke with him on many occasions in the past about his voice and he said that only the inflections and isms if what he added and that the tonality, timbre etc were just him being himself...

I really don't know him at all, to be honest. If he's as devout about music and lyrics having that much power over his religous beliefs, though, I doubt he would have been interested. Who knows?

Could be....Could be he got wore down working the band thing and travelling, too. No doubt that sounding like Perry can be plus or minus to your career, depending on how you look at it. I'd be interested in knowing if at least he tried his hand at writing original music...Lots of guys writing music or performing in bands still embrace their Perryisms - Hugo, Chalfant, yours truly...If it's that much a part of what you do, you can either hide from it or make the most of it I guess.

Jason, I don't know if you listen to contemporary christian music or not but it needs a major breath of fresh air. You have been given an amazing gift from God! Have you considered doing some christian demos? A voice like yours should be heard! Also, Neal & Jon, if you really want to keep your audience, here is your guy! If he is interested and you haven't tried to sign him, I think you are making a huge mistake!!

Yeah, maybe Jason should try to get in touch with Lincoln Brewster?

I dont think there is much anyone could do to get Jason to join Journey. However any money he made could help support his church so... I think he would view it as dirty money because of the business.. WHo knows.....

I would hope that he would do something more indie to keep from being another cookie cutter produced artist. That's part of the problem, everything sounds very similar and stale. Not that Lincoln isn't awesome but I believe he is on a major label.

I wont deny that I am a pegan and Christian music really just makes me reach for the dial in the same way Celine Dion does. Not because of the subject matter though but because every song is saying the same thing the same way. With Celine its love this love that etc and with Christian music its god this and god that. Now I could listen to it if these artists learned the word metaphor. Say something with out it being so obvious and direct and leave the listen to wonder a little instead of having a chorus like... "We love god and god is cool and you better love god or your a fool".. Its too direct and hokey to me... I am sure there are exceptions its just that I have not heard any....

Hey Nig,

Just tried it again, and it worked! I'm very impressed!!! The sound quality is very poor, but you can hear it enough to tell that his voice was amazing! Sure wish he would've worked on some of my original tunes.

How sad...To have such a gift and to let it rust.
I just listened to that mp3 again - what a voice...

I'm a Christian and I don't like the CURRENT Christian music scene. It's more trendy than even the secular pop music scene.

Sorry, time was short this weekend from playing gigs and family stuff. Boy I sure love going on stage at 2:45am to play in front of 10 people !! Makes me love being in an original band !! Sarcasm off....

Anyway.

More clips coming I promise. Trying to find a way to cleanup the audio some but it just seems like I can add a little bottom end and thats it. If I boost any of the treble areas it makes Jason sound very very harsh... Once I get these dubbed to DVD would anyone be interested in having the vhs tapes ? Maybe someone with a little more time and an understanding of video editing could work some miricles with em...
