Can't listen to YouTube at work, but it was a straight blues shuffle, a la Sam Cooke.

Sounds a little like Neal..very melodic

To me, Sambo is a bit bluesier than Schon....but not in any way that makes him better than Schon...just in that, if they were both improvising in a solo section, Sambora would likely play something bluesy before doing something flashy or fierce...and schon would likely do the exact opposite....and play something fierch/flashy before doing something bluesy. Both are capable of doing either...I just think Sambora, given the way he's evolved as a player, resorts a little more to his inner-clapton.

Also, and this is no contest, Sambora is a far better singer than neal could ever hope to be! ;) granted, there's a long list of singers out there that could get the best of Neal, vocally! ;)

Not so sure about this any longer. It's no secret Jon and Ritchie have been lippin pioneers lately. They made Augeri look like Pavarotti. Neal isn't that bad. He could definitely hold a bluesy track fine.

Actually Frank was the one that said that and I agreed with him. The only song I've ever liked Schon's vocals on was People and Places....otherwise Richie's definately better in the vocal department.

When I saw Bon Jovi in July, you'd be hard pressed to convince me they were lippin, no way.....maybe some backing vocals, but Jon and Richie's lead vocals weren't......jury is still out on that one Dean. :? Sh!t should have went to this past Thursday's concert too, just to double check.

Um, no Deb. They are worse than Journey was. Trust me, I could start a whole new game of investigation, but I have other priorities. Look, do I not get the benefit of the doubt? I was 100% correct last time. Just because you love Jon's ass and ball sack doesn't mean the man hasn't lost it. They are worse than Journey and almost as bad as Lippard.

Oh and Deb, I do like these guys.

That's what I mean Dean, he has lost some of it vocally. Ass, not so much.  And you could hear that at the concert, he and Richie still sounded great....but the imperfections were there too. Didn't even try for the high notes. Why would they lip that?

Never heard about BJ lipping, but I'd never doubt you on this dean. I'm sure everyone's doing it, sadly...it's like the fucking MLB. Everyone seems hell bent on cheating.

Also, I'm not sure if he cleaned himself up...but Richies singing and playing at the Unplugged taping was flat out disgraceful. I remember watching that saying to myself, "whoah, the mighty fall hard!"

SITT was an amazing CD. I didn't like Undiscovered Soul on the whole, as much. Richie sounded too happy. But the tracks come up on my iPod from time to time and individually they are quite good. I loved that Richie did a little blues CD for his debut. Very different from Bon Jovi and THAT is the pont to a solo CD. His vocals surprised the hell outta me since he always sings the high harmonies to Jon and on the disc his true voice is much lower.

As for the lipping...JBJ sounds WAY too bad and nasally to be lipping! I cannot stand JBJ's live vocals anymore. But I don't know how anyone cannot hear Richie's vocals harmonizing with Jon. Maybe that person just doesn't realize that the high vocal is Richie's...

You know, I hate the fact that this band went from a 5 piece band to a freaking orchestra.

THere's NO need for 2 other guitarist in this band!! NO need at all...it's a freaking tragedy!

Ya, not too sure why he's got Bobby Banderias and others out touring full time with them now? :?

Maybe he's for backup in case Richie goes full tilt off the wagon or something?

Richie's solo albums are great. I can't reccomend them enough.

I think the divorce hasn't been too kind on Richie though...the times I've seen them on TV this year he hasn't been overly impressive. The extra musicians BJ has onstage are also covering a lot of the vocals he used to do...it's kind of sad.

Yeah, God love Richie. I think his father or someone else close to him also died. He's been like this for a while though.

Back in the day, I was a huge Bon Jovi fan. Reading back over old articles, you can see it coming full tilt.

Waking up to this thread has single handedly made my day!! I am one of the biggest Sambora fans out there, and I really don't care for Jon at all. Not only does Richie's voice trump Jon's, from everything I've ever heard about from people who have met both of them in many different situations, so does his personality. Not to mention his sense of humor. If you are a fan and have seen any behind the scenes videos etc, you know what I'm talking about. Yes it was his father that he lost to lung cancer earlier this year. That was the straw that broke him. He's been in fine form this tour so far though. At any rate, l love the man and seeing threads like this make me happy!!! :D

I love how you think Dean, Frank and I have something to do with Susie's weird little pro boards forum. THAT is what's funny. You're totally wrong on that one. I've looked at that mess and there is nothing remotely interesting or funny written there. Believe me, if I wanted to set up a bogus Arnel site, it would have all of my usual calling cards. Woof, woof.

Deano's correct on the BJ Lippin thing...
Their backups DEFINITELY are. As for Jon's, I'm not 100% sure on that, but I know they definitely are in the end of "Livin' On a Prayer" when they do it live. VERY obvious. What the heck happened to Jon's voice? He sounds like he's singing through his nose. He didn't sound like that till after the New Jersey album, now it's gotten progressively worse and more irritating. One of the tightest throated singers I've ever heard. I wish they'd go back to making albums like Jersey and Keep the Faith. I'm having a tough time getting into their last few albums. VERY cliche' lyrics. He needs to let Sambora shine a bit more too as far as his solos. Richie's a great blues player. Neal's good like that too, but I prefer Sambora's tone to Neal's.

edit-
I just noticed jrnyman28 said the same thing about the Jon and his voice in his nose! Oops, read the whole thread before replying....

Yeah, what he said!

Thats odd, I was watching a live you tube from this year's tour....I think the song was Raise your Hands....without a doubt, the worst background singing I've heard from this band in quite some time...

If they're using pre-recorded background singing, it would be a wise idea to get some better singing on tape...because what I heard sounded awful.

as for BJ himself...it's no secret that he is one of those 'glass jaw' singers. He had *serious* vocal trouble back around New Jersey (the album)...and he went to Katie Agresta (his vocal coach at the time) and she basically had to whip him into shape. Agresta is also the reason why Sambora eclipsed BJ as a singer. Sambora's voice appears to have more stamina and as their voices developed under Agresta through New Jersey and Keep The Faith....Sambora's voice got stronger than BJs.

Regardless, the band itself plays almost everything a half step lower, all to save BJ's voice. They planed tours carefully around saving Jon's voice....

...If they ended up throwing in the towel to go to memorex, it's sad, sad thing....

Larry and Phylis (I guess you damaged the username TVL enough, eh? time to float in with a new handle? very suziesque of you! ), it might make alot more sense if you pull this shit on Susie's/Sohiban/Pyschoslutfrohell's board....and not here. You're making light of a rather serious issue...and it's now clear that I wasn't too far off base at all. Your games at worse, implicate you in this mess...at best, are showing that you both are ignorant of the damage this person has done to others. Again, for such moral grandstanding, you've really shown some true colors!
