Moose, You're making me think bad thoughts!

slightly off topic., your song "rumours out" is fantastic/

Thank you. I really appreciate it! I'm hoping if I happen to get a deal with a record label, to go into a real studio. It'd be nice to do those songs right. We'll see what happens. Have you heard "Eye of the storm"? It's similar in style.

Sorry for the thread jack!

Yeh i have, i have you on my myspace, i like it. I hope you do get a deal, so the songs can come alive, throw in some real drums and i think the songs will sound a millions times than they already are. I may be able to put you in touch with people who mixed, mastered and recorded Gary Hughes last album.

Awesome! I think it's going to be a little while before I'm ready for that though. Drums are probably the biggest thing I'm lacking! They can add so much power to a song. As it is (other than 2 guitars), all of the music was played and recorded by myself. I'm no bass player, or drummer and just have to play filler parts. I don't use a drum machine...I have to play and record each part. If I get these into a real studio, the dynamics will change BIG time!

Thank you! I love pretty much any group that's big on harmonies. I mostly listen to melodic rock, but occasionally I'll listen to Rascal Flatts, Diamond Rio, Eagles, Etc...

Again, thanks for the compliments. I'm off for a few days, so I'll see if I can't write some new tunes! Take care.

Send her my Love and Who's crying now are outstanding. Emotional lyrics and vocal delivery coupled with cinematic instrumentals. What's not to like?

Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' and Wheel in the Sky are just fun songs. The kind that make you try your best to hit the high notes with Perry and play air guitar with Schon.

To each his own I guess, but I love all of those songs.

I cant STAND "Lovin Touchin" because of all the "na-na nonscense at the end........OMG can someone give them a word or two to end that damn song with PLEASEEEEE!!!!

AWYWI, though a hard rocker, for me is the biggest example of a Journey song that leaves me going

Hi Tree, are you the Perry Sistah from PV? :) The 1st time I heard L-T-S, from their GH dvd, I really liked the song (what's not to like when SP is singing?), until they got to all the na-na stuff. Then, it seems like the song would never end  . I think it's a rip-off to the Beatles' Hey Jude, myself.

I know, all the "Anyway you want it, what's ..." really gets boring after the 10th cresenda. I think it's another example of a song written with audience participation in mind. I read that Journey wrote a lot of songs geared toward their live shows. LaDoDa is an early example. I mean, what the heck title is that for a song? But it does kick ass when performed live. I was never there, but have many concert boots hearing the song played. Sounds much better than on the studio track of Infinity.

Yeah Annie I WAS on PV when PV was open but now its closed down. And I still dont like that song! Never have and never will. I guess it would have been ok without all the Na-na's but with them I dont care for it. I also noticed that some of the earlier Journey seemed more fluff than the later stuff. Im not sure if that was all due to Jonathan Cain joining or maybe he inspired Steve Perry and Neal Schon to write deeper lyrics.....but thats my opinion.

Um, let's see...to the one complaining of the na na na BS at the end of LTS; They don't do that na na na BS live. In fact, the blues duel Neal and The Frig have is astounding. I got so pumped last year at the Fresno show, I lost my composure and yelled out "Friga!" Those who have that illegal boot can hear me loud and clear. That's when the Frig and I were pals.

coded meanings in songs - 'Freedom' George Michael

Postby infinityplusone » Thu Dec 27, 2007 4:12 pm

One of the best all-around songs of the past 20 years. Ostensibly about him shedding his "Faith"/MTV-cultivated persona and trying to be taken "more seriously" as an artist.

But if you really listen to it, I think it's really his 'coming-out' song. This, 7 or 8 years before he started to getting busted in public toilets.

Now, back to JRNY...

Welcome Tree. I only started posting here myself a few months ago after PV closed. Lurked here for years to get all the Journey talk, but seemed like a scary place for Perry fans to be in. Around Tapegate time seemed to change the dynamics of this board.

Wow, I must be nuts then 'cuz I love all the songs mentioned in this thread! The ONLY song I hit the fast forward button is "Back Talk"...which isn't singing to me but angry yelling. Okay, I'll admit those nanananas are too long & I think maybe Steve Smith felt the same way from the video.
