Dude I watched parts of that game in HD. Awesome. Hockey with snow flurries, cool as hell. They need to bring that to Detroit. There are plenty of abandoned buildings that can be torn down to build an outdoor rink. :D

I know. My point was a lot of these women on here won't dare watch it(hockey), but gripe and piss about football. Hockey is so much better than football.

Close mindedness is no way to deal with sports.

Not closed mindedness on my part regarding football, I've tried to watch it (CFL) but compared to hockey it bores me to tears. There is just no comparison between the Grey Cup playoffs and the Stanley Cup playoffs, IMO. Don't worry about Deb2, we'll reel her in during the playoffs.

Sorry, back to football.............

Hell, I had both ball games and the hockey match going. Okay, so the FLA game got just boring enough for me to focus more on the hockey match. lol Then came the USC game. :::yawn::: When the hell are they going to fix this crap and give us the game we want to see for the big bowl? All this namby pamby picking shit really has given us nothing but flops for the big games in recent history (heh.. sort of like the superbowl the last four years - imnsho).
Meh... the hockey match was badass though. 76,000 in attendance is just insane! That right there is something I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Ok should roll tonight Stoops with a month to prepare and an interm head ccoach in Wva should be a blowout IMO

There is definitely something to be said for a hockey game where in addition to his helmet, the goalie is wearing a winter hat on top of it. That was killer to see true ice hockey. Reminded me of younger days playing hockey on a frozen lake.

And I still say that Tebow is way overrated. A truly exceptional QB would make it work regardless of how shitty a team he's got around him. A winner knows how to make it work no matter what.

I admire your passion dude, but you need to relax. University of Florida pales in comparison to a lot of other schools.

University of Florida has a handful of championships, but take a look at UCLA. 121 NCAA Championships. Jesus Christ that is a lot.

So perhaps you need to tell Albert and Alberta to get a bigger bite.

Not sure how recent this is, but I'm sure it's somewhat recent. It lists National Championships in college football by conference. Note: The SEC was formed in 1932 and by historical standards is relatively young.

Big 12 – (16)

SEC -- (14)

Big Ten -- (13)

The Pac 10 has the top 3 programs with the most national championships. Here are the top 10.
Population and weather allowing such an array of sports has a lot to do with it, but it's impressive nonetheless. With weather like that it's hard for for cold weather schools to compete in warm weather sports like golf, baseball, track and field, and tennis. You're certainly not going to go to Minnesota on a golf scholarship if you can go to USC.

As long as Bennett stays, we are set. Half the team returns next year and a great recruiting class coming in.

This list is not right...USC has 7 NC's by itself. Stanford has one, Cal one, and even WSU has a FB NC.

Using that criteria the Big 10 would have 39 national championships. For this page, we only count National Championships since 1936. Reason is that's when the AP began its poll and that's when we first had a "consensus" national champ. Prior to that there were numerous polls and numerous teams crowned "National Champs." Of course, even after '36 there continued to be numerous polls and it appears you have counted several NC's from minor polls. Finally, of course, the SEC only began in 1932; so it's a bit unfair to add in NC's from years that the SEC didn't exist -- at least if you are comparing conferences.

I think that might be the problem Deb...It's the CFL, which I know is your country's "pro football" league, but it's not the NFL. Also, I've been to Canada, and I'm not sure I met 3 people in Canada who weren't hockey fanatics! I don't think ANY sport would EVER top the national sport of your country! It's just not going to happen. In the U.S., hockey has ALWAYS been the least popular of the four major sports. Even though I grew up in a hockey crazed city (we had a guy from Parry Sound, Ontario you may have heard of...Robert Gordon Orr), most cities in America simply don't care about hockey and never will! Do you remember the ABSURDITY that Fox resorted to, when they were broadcasting NHL games??? The old tail on the puck to help people follow the action??? As a guy who grew up watching and playing hockey, I found it disgraceful. Unfortunately, that's what they thought they had to do to get people in this country (and I'm obviously not referring to the Deans of the world) to pay any attention to hockey!

John, Canada's national sport is actually lacrosse. My comment was directed towards Deb (dulce). She refuses to watch hockey. Only NBA(like that's real exciting). A bunch of oversized prima donnas bitchin over phantom fouls and very bad citizens. Sorry. I can make free throws better than half that league. They would rather lose and look good, rather than win ugly. Nope not my thing.

Fox did screw up hockey with the puck tail. Embarrassing. We'll see here next month. Gatorade is going to feature Sidney Crosby as their number one guy. Should be interesting. He is the face of Canada, and the face of the NHL; a good looking kid with morals, manners and responsibilities. A great role model. Beats the Hell out of Kobe, Iverson or anyone from the Knicks.

All kidding aside, I've watched a few NFL games too and just can't get into football..........I'd actually rather watch baseball. But IMO, watching either, pales in comparison to the intensity of a good hockey game. I just got into watching hockey about 5 years ago or so. Iggy rules, on and off the ice!

OMG, I remember that, that was a huge joke over here. I remember some calling it acid hockey....trying to watch the neon puck trails flash around the ice was like being on a bad acid trip. :?

Wasn't he already Kareem Abdul-Jabar by the time he got to the Lakers? Geez...you're dating yourself with that reference (and I'm only 37)! As for the fighting in hockey, it was honestly MUCH better back in the 70's and 80's! It seems WAY too scripted now, when I watch hockey. That said, there is nothing quite like a good hockey fight. Ever see goaltenders beat the shit out of each other at center ice? It's hilarious
