+1 billion.

not to forget the fact that Triumph has a guitarist that can play circles around lifeson.

Triumph was a really underrated band for some reason. I'm really looking forward to seeing them. Rik's voice sounded awesome last year and the man can play some serious guitar as well. Journey would be lucky if they could grab these guys and tour with them.

They were quite popular here. I remember seeing them and April Wine quite a few times back in the day. Both bands totally kicked butt LIVE.

I'm actually shocked they got back together again....there were some serious fights between the remaining members and Rik. Aparently having to do with someone pushing Rik out of publishing/royalty rights...it wasn't a case of an egomaniac guitarist that couldn't handle a princess singer anymore. It was real nasty shit where, iirc, Rik got fucked financially....really hard.

So I find this reunion to be an eyebrow raiser, to say the least.

good band that i loved in the late 80's.i lived in a small town back then and i played triumph to a couple of my friends as a lost discovery type of thing because everyone was into ozzy, white lion, guns n roses, def leppard, etc. well i get about 20 seconds into i think it was fight the good fight and this dude yanks the tape out and chunks it on the ground and says shit, lol.seems like triumph was a band you either loved or inspired hate back in the day.i didn't give a shit i still like 'em.a lot of people do call them a poor mans rush but they had some pretty good music.allied forces is a very good album....

My typing teacher in high school (Sister Marcelline...rest her soul) would love to have you in her class. That crabby hairy-faced woman would slap you silly for not using two spaces after your periods and never using a capital letter. ;)

Is there an official press release saying that Triumph are reuniting?I'd like to see that.

Checked MR's front page - Andrew doesn't say anything on this.

Ah yes, the same old Rush vs Triumph bs. Sorry, but it's apples vs oranges as far I'm concerned. Gee, they're both trio's from Canada. Whatever. Don't worry, Rik still has the pipes and can play, check out his new Airtime cd.

For those that can appreciate Triumph, just go to http://www.triumphmusic.com, join us on the forum there.

It's stupid, they're both from Canada. That's where the similarities end. Triumph has more in common with Bryan Adams than they do with Rush anyway.

It's Saturday...can't be assed :)

Here ya go though. Bloody great news. But let's not start on th Perry/Journey thing again....hell hasn't completely frosted up.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TRIUMPH UNITES FOR SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL!

The classic Triumph line-up (Rik Emmett/Mike Levine/Gil Moore) could
not have selected a better way to reunite after a two-decade absence -
with what will undoubtedly be a show-stopping appearance at the 2008
Sweden Rock Festival. Held over a four-day span (June 4-7), the
Sweden Rock Festival has been an annual event since 1992, and over the
past few years, has been held in Norje, outside of Sölvesborg.

This year's festival is featuring one of its strongest line-ups ever -
in addition to Triumph's highly anticipated appearance, such renowned
groups as Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Blue Öyster Cult, and Whitesnake
(among others) have also been confirmed.

"We have had Triumph in mind for many years and hoped that they would
play together again one day . When we saw Triumph was inducted into
the Canadian Music Industry Hall Of Fame, then read some statements
from the members that "maybe one day we will do something together
again," we jumped in with an immediate offer - and it looks like we're
helping write some new history! A fantastic band with so many classic
albums is just what Sweden Rock Festival
is all about. I am very proud to be able to present this band at this
years Sweden Rock Festival. I'm just one of many fans that are looking
forward to this fantastic show." - Ingolf Persson, Sweden Rock
Festival.

As one of the godfathers of prog metal and leading lights of arena
rock, Triumph formed in 1975, and built a large and loyal fanbase by
the late '70s on the strength of their non-stop touring schedule
throughout Canada and the USA and the success of their classic albums,
'Rock & Roll Machine' and 'Just A Game.' But it was in the 1980's
when Triumph truly became a force to be reckoned with, as a string of
gold/platinum-certified albums ('Progressions of Power,' 'Allied
Forces,' 'Never Surrender,' and 'Thunder Seven') and classic hits
("Fight the Good Fight," "Magic Power", "Lay It On The Line")
solidified the group as one of rock's top concert attractions.

With their music continuing to live on during their absence, fans will
now finally get the opportunity to catch this live legend on stage
once more.

So this appears to be a one-off only at this point, eh?

Triumph always had a great stage/light show; drummer Gil Moore designed the show aspects.

Wish I could be excited about this, but I'm just not a fan. It's not about being a 3 piece band from Canada. That's just silly. It's about their music. All their songs are just too derivative of Rush's earlier music.

Triumph is to Rush what Survivor is to Journey. Derivative, but not as good.

That being said, It's great they are burying their personal hatchets and finding common enough ground to give their fans what they want. Wish Perry should take cue here. Life is short. Don't find regret when you're in a wheelchair.
