I would love to chill but you know what Liz, I feel like the Tiger who was egged on by those two dipshits in Frisco. Understand. I would love to chill, but when it comes to this place, that particular speed is not an option.

That hasn't been an option for you since at least Hurricane Katrina as I recall. You feel that by your own choice. But...whatever trips your trigger.

the last couple months here in memphis before this MLK holiday even arrived the main story on fox memphis is a story about why can't black and white get along in memphis.some people living in another parts of the country would not believe this stuff still goes on but it does.

its like ever since 1968 this city where i live has frozen in time.the blacks hang with the blacks and whites hang with whites.its a very polarized city and you can walk in exxon, the grocery store or the bank here every day without fail and hear the bitching and moaning and racial comments.i was even called white boy at work and i called the sonofabitch black boy.he said don't call me that.i said then don't fuckin' call me white boy.the double standard here is unbelievable.

you will not believe the things you hear.for instance last night on fox memphis news a black woman said this ...'i was going to the white man to do my brakes but i finally found someone my own color and i'm so happy' i shit you not this was said.my brother moved from here seven years ago because he couldn't stand it any longer.he went to fed ex in phoenix and a guy asked my brother if memphis was good and my brother said don't go.well the guy went anyway and now calls my brother bitching and shit.well he tried to tell him.

this might go on one day out of the year around the country but this racial shit goes on every fucking day here.i'm like most people here i remember the days before all this politically correct bullshit where you have to watch everything you say.i'm not racist by any stretch but i don't look at it like some of the people here in memphis do as a US vs. THEM type of thing.

Hi Rad,

I agree that often times MLK day is taken lightly or portrayed as a "black holiday." While there is no doubt that the MLK and the civil rights movement had a significant impact on the lives of African Americans and other minorities, to me MLK day is a day for all Americans, because I shudder at the thought of living in America's darker past, and can't even imagine how awful it must have been being so segregated and divided. One of America's greatest assets and sources of its strength is its diversity. To the end that MLK's work contributed to greater equality and diversity in America, I'm grateful to him for that, and I think that most of us probably are! Happy Martin Luther King Day!

if you are reffering to slavery and discrimination towards african americans, well, every other country in history has done the same thing;yet ,we are the only society that is pushed to feel sorry for the past. hell, africans sold other africans as slaves!

We can be reverent without having to feel ashamed or apologize for anything that has happened in the past.

Hey all. Meant no offense. Personally this thread just makes me a bit uncomfortable. That's just me. Might just be my background and all, so anything I said, do not take offense. Still feel the way I do, but surely can understand some of what I read.

Well, I don't think the nations of the world (past or present) are blameless, and I don't think it helps to point fingers either. I'm just saying I'm glad we've moved away from segregation and discrimination of the past, even if we could still do better. I also happen to think that MLK's work played a significant role in making America better for everyone regardless of color, and that's why I don't think MLK day should be down played as much as it sometimes is.

Solid Gold? wow that is the late 80s, they were hot ,along with the 20 minute workout,{it didnt take me 20 minutes lol. Altough it is fucked up our daughters are listening to gangster rap bullshit, which I could blow them bastards away with my shotgun ,I wouldnt want it to go back to how it was either. Part of MLK s dream came true, kids of all races play and go to school together, once they become teens, thats when all bullshit starts, and the fucking record industry makes millions off of it. They pay some thug with a big shiitty mouth millions to talk shit. Thats whats on the radio instead of music. If MLK was alive to day he wouldnt like the shit thats goiing down right now .I have black freinds, and they dont like that "gansta shit ' anymore than I do .That has to fucking go

Yay...a bunch of jobless thugs bitching about something that happened 500 years ago. Just a convenient excuse to be filled with hate, laziness and a penchant for being a burden on society.

You can't be serious. You're cheer leading a demonstration against Columbus Day? Get a life. And remember, you're free to leave this country at any time.

So are YOU. So, why don't you ALL quit your fucking bitching? Or I should say, inuendos of bitching. Especially if you can't even have the spirit to celebrate a day meant for equality and getting along? I guess that's the only way to get anyone to visit this fucked up Journey board...sorry I fell for it. :o

I forgot to add, I chucked him down a Pabst Light Dry Ice I found in the corner of the fridge; had to be there for a couple years. He drank it, and yes, threw the can in the corner of the building.(shaking my head)
