It doesn't take ONE brain cell to get a drooling vegetable to watch the purdy cars goin' round and round and round...left, straight. Left, straight. Left, straight. Left, straight. Left, straight. Left, straight. Get gas. Straight, left, straight. Left, straight.

I've been to the CC 600. What a nightmare. It smelled like an airtight room full of Bulgarian pole vaulters wearing Old Spice deodorant, after a 16 hour practice in Mexico City. And THAT was the women. The "men" hadn't bathed since the Carter Administration, which was also probably the last time they even bothered to pick up one of those pesky "books" that those Damn Yankees always prattle on and on about.

Now Formula 1 is a thinking man's motorsport. MUCH more complex and interesting, FAR more dangerous...and the drivers ordinarily have college degrees, instead of forged GED's and 6th grade diplomas.

Pretty much ALL motor sports bore me to tears. At least it's more interesting than golf.

Probably because Oakland has some nice areas to balance out the bad. I can't vouch for Stockton, but I drive through Modesto a lot and it's pretty run down. Lousy medical facilities.

Parchesi, Rounders, and Tiddlywinks are all more interesting than golf.

But I have found myself getting more and more into the women's golf these days...let alone women's tennis and soccer. VERY nice eye candy there...

But seriously, a lot of women's sports are more interesting than their male counterparts' because they're not all balooned on 'roids...there is still a lot of athleticism in women's tennis.

That's part of the reason I'm not nearly as much of a fan of football anymore. Hell, even NBA players are much more muscular these days.

Hell yeah! I'm a newbie to NASCAR, but a lot goes into that sport: mechanically, strategically, psychologically - it's like having over 40 stories going on at the same time. Anyone who thinks it's boring hasn't ever really watched it.

I don't know - there are a fair amount of fans in CA, the race here is usually well attended (and hot as hell, from what I hear....over 100 degrees). A lot of women are into NASCAR and Kasey Kahne has nothing to do with it

That isn't true either. NASCAR is extremely popular throughout the country. It isn't my thing, but I can acknowledge it isn't limited to the Bible Belt.

That's in turn one at Bristol Motor Speedway. Our suite is right on the frontstretch just to the right of the start/finish line. That man's season tickets used to be in the grandstands directly below us. Not the thing you want to see while eating your catered beef wellington.

Yeah, that's right, there are high class Nascar fans too. John from Boston can blow it out of his ass!

Dude you're WAY off on this one. Shall I list all the tracks that sell upwards of 100,000 seats per race? It ain't all Daytona and Talladega. NASCAR, like it or not, is nation-wide! Cali, Vegas, Phoenix, Dover, Pocono, Michagan, New Hampshire, etc...sound like the South to you?
I'm hardly a big fan (a casual one, simply because my 80 year old Mother digs it- whom, btw, has quite a few active brain cells despite her age and her Southernness- and I watch so as to be able to share in her passion) It's SO much more complex, rule-wise, than just going around in circles. Far more to it than that.

I'm with 7 Wishes on this one. Talking about how NASCAR sells out tracks across the country doesn't put it on par with the major sports in this country. The WWE sells out all of it's wrestling events, as well! While there is ZERO question that the popularity of NASCAR has grown, exponentially, most still don't give a shit! I have a unique perspective as someone who grew up in New England and now lives in the Charlotte area. Even though the track in Loudon, NH PACKS fans in (it ALWAYS sells out), most people in New England still don't give a shit about cars driving around in a circle! You also NEVER EVER EVER see NASCAR coverage as part of most sports reports, on the local news, in Boston. Conversely, in Charlotte, that's all they talk about! Forget the sports segment of the news...It's talked about often, as part of the actual news in Charlotte  The Charlotte Bobcats beat the Celtics a couple of weeks back (at a point when the Celtics had a total of 3 losses), and it wasn't even mentioned during the sports report! These people care about NASCAR and college hoops. Nothing else matters in this part of the country.

Your ignorance is showing.

Nascar is the fastest growing sport in the world. Their TV dwarfs basketball, baseball and golf.

You all who have an opinion on it, and have never been, are clueless and downright idiotic to comment on something you have no idea about.

I am an educated Californian, and I got into when the NHL got the great idea to have a lockout, and the fact that the NBA is unwatchable, I tried Nascar. I picked the Californian who can string together complete and competent sentences, Jimmie Johnson, and he has won the Championship 2 of the 3 years I have watched.

That's cool though, to all you who just bash and not watch. I could give two shits. Stay in your rooms and listen to bad hair band music. Like I said, a lot more mental capability goes into Nascar than football or basketball.

Nascar tracks hold between 100,000 and 250,000. PLease don't compare Nascar with fucking fake wrestling. That shit while funny is for fuckin tards.

Dean...

I'm fully cognizant of just how ENORMOUS these NASCAR tracks are. I've been on the track at Lowes Motor Speedway (for a car show...not a race), and there are no words to describe just how large these facilities are. Also, for the record, I wasn't suggesting that I'm a wrestling fan, because I'm not! I just don't see that big of a difference between the two fan bases. Also, for the record, you know I've NEVER questioned your intellect. I've always found you to be very intelligent, and the most entertaining person I've ever encountered on an internet forum, even though I don't always agree with you. I understand that there are probably some doctors, lawyers, and members of MENSA, who probably enjoy both wrestling and NASCAR. That said, if you watched the clowns I see on the local news every night talking about NASCAR, you would NEVER consider yourself to be "one of them"! Most of them aren't capable of saying multi-syllabic words! It's actually quite frightening.

You're correct about people from certain College B-ball hotbeds not giving a shit about the NBA. I, too, live in a state where it's college or nothing. The folks in my state are still pissed off that the NBA didn't merge the KY Colonels into the league back in the 70's! And NC being the birth place of what we know as NASCAR today, I'm not at all surprised that it's as big a part of the headlines as you say. (Can you say "Junior Johnson" and "Dale Earnhardt"?)
I certainly wouldn't put NASCAR on par with, say, the NFL or even MLB, but it's definitely gaining in popularity. Look at how so many popular IRL racers are defecting to Nascar. And once they finally get minority owners and drivers in place, look out. The sport will really explode then.

In other topics, Flint MI may not have given the world Michael Moore, but it DID give us the GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, baby! That's an upside in my book!

I've been to NASCAR races, Dean, and I have been forced to watch them on TV...more than one southern women I have dated has been a fan - and it continues to dull my senses. With the F1, there are no restrictor plates, et cetera, and so the best driver with the best car wins...not the team with the most money.

Anyway, the rest of the world thinks NASCAR is a joke.

For the Nascar haters here's a little fact for you to chew on - Nascar attracts larger audiences every year then all the other sports combined. I'm talking about MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA etc. Google it and check out the numbers for yourselves.
