You don't believe it because you don't want to. That's your right. But for every 100 studies on this subject, 98% assert global warming exists and primarily because of mankind.

There is no source to back that up. My guess is that it's between 60-70% in favor of global warming. Of that number, who knows how many actually believe that mankind is a major contributing factor.

I believe it's mostly due to the fact that the sun is hotter AND because of normal climatic patterns that have existed throughout the history of the earth.

DING DING DING DING!!! 8)

Thank you, Dave. It is common sense that the Earth over billions of years has climate change patterns just as we have seasons for the year. You want proof of this? Simple... ICE. AGE. Derf. :)

It's all a ploy to control the population...

Look...if they control your money (and they do) they have a measure of control over you...if they control your energy then they gain MORE control over you...to quote Al Gore..."He played on our fears"...

Who was to blame when the glaciers that cut through the Rocky Mountains began to melt? That was some serious global warming back then.

Climate change report to say global warming 'very likely' man-made
Last Updated: Thursday, February 1, 2007 | 11:34 AM ET
CBC News
An authoritative report on global warming will say it is "very likely" — or 90 per cent certain — climate change is caused by humans burning fossil fuels, and warns of rising temperatures and sea levels and extreme weather in the coming century, according to officials involved in writing the report.

Dozens of scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change representing 113 nations are working on the final wording of the report expected to be released Friday in Paris.

Dr. Rajendra Pachauri of India chairs the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change conference in Paris on Monday.
(Jacques Brinon/Associated Press) The fourth report since 1990, it is widely expected to include the strongest wording yet on the impact burning fossil fuels has on climate change and to predict significant changes could start to appear in the next 10 years.

"That is a big move. I hope it is a powerful statement," said Jan Pretel, head of the department of climate change at the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.

The last report, in 2001, said global warming was "likely" caused by human activity.

According to drafts, the report will forecast a temperature increase of two to four degrees Celsius by the year 2100, which would lead to a rise in sea levels and extreme weather, such as droughts and heat waves.

Hurricanes are also for the first time considered "more likely than not" linked to climate change, with the report predicting fewer but more powerful occurrences of the tropical storms.

The report is expected Friday, though participants are said to be behind schedule in agreeing on the wording of the 12- to 15-page summary.

The initial report — authored by more than 2,000 scientists — will be followed by three subsequent sections to be issued throughout the year, including examinations of climate change impacts expected in April.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is said to be considering the idea of an emergency international summit on climate change later this year amid growing concerns about rising temperatures.

The world's 10 warmest years in temperature records dating back to 1850 have all occurred since 1994, according to the United Nations weather agency.

A UN report issued two months ago said greenhouse gases in the atmosphere reached record levels in 2005 and were expected to increase in 2006. Concentrations of carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide both rose in 2005, the study's authors found.

Under the Kyoto accord that went into effect in 2005, 141 nations have committed to reducing emissions by an average of five per cent below 1990 levels by 2012.

But the agreement does not include the world's biggest emitter — the United States — and also excludes developing countries like China and India
.

Wait, I know. The U.N. is still "out to get" the Bush Administration for the Iraq debacle and is contriving evidence and falsifying documents.

But...no scientific sanctioning body has ever ratified the refutation of the claim that global warming exists...whereas EVERY major scientific sanctioning body has agreed global warming exists.

And the rest of the world agrees...to the tune of about 95%...as do the rest of the world's scientists.

Conscensus IS NOT SCIENCE!!!! It's a hoax dude. Did you check out those links I posted? Seriously not trying to be an ass.

Considering in the early 20th century there was very little regulation on emissions of gas guzzling cars or factories. I'm interested on your take as how the Earth cooled during these booming years.

The last two years have been much calmer than normal in terms of hurricanes worldwide. Shall we conclude that global cooling has been taking place since 2005?

The world's 10 warmest years in temperature records dating back to 1850 have all occurred since 1994, according to the United Nations weather agency.

This claim has been changed several times over. I believe that NASA corrected their records not long ago and now says that 1934 was the warmest year on record.

Under the Kyoto accord that went into effect in 2005, 141 nations have committed to reducing emissions by an average of five per cent below 1990 levels by 2012.

The last I checked into this, most countries haven't been meeting even these standards.

Another thing I would like to know...How come the Global Warmers go bonkers when anyone on the other side is even remotely tied to big oil or energy companies but it's okay for them to accept money from environmental organizations and governments who are pushing their environmentalist agenda?

Sorry, but whoever wrote this article had a political point of their own to push on people. It's full of out of context misinformation.

Take the "mini ice-age", for example. It's absolutely true, there was one. But, they took quotes from the time and used them without the benefit of putting them into the context of what really did happen. That there WAS an "ice age", that winter did not really 'end' over much of Europe. Were people of that time supposed to know that the affect was because of volcanic eruptions? Of course not...they had no idea what was happening on a global scale. So, they wrote what they observed...an ice age was starting and they had no idea why or when it would end.

Yes, there ARE cycles of heating and cooling. That is absolutely true. The problem with all of these quotes is they did not have the benefits of modern technologies and computer models, etc. The truth is that when computer models first started predicting global warming because of greenhouse gasses it was in the early 80's when many "people" were still talking about a cool down. The models have been right for almost 30yrs...that is almost THREE solar cycles. The fact is that the models predictions are TOO CONSERVATIVE. They did not predict ENOUGH global warming. It is ACCELERATED because of ice melting around the world (ice reflects heat and the ocean absorbs and stores it...less ice = more heat...more ocean = more heat).

And, the sun is HOTTER? Hotter then what? You actually believe the sun is going to gain heat in as little as 100yrs? 100yrs is NOTHING in the life of a star. That is just riduculous and ill informed thinking...as ridiculous as one of those quotes stating, "the sun AND STARS" affect the Earth's climate more then anything else. The moon affects our climate moer then some star.

This article is written for a certain group...those who do not want to face reality. It's the other side of the coin from Al Gore's documentary.

No, I'm not wrong. You are taking one section of the Earth and applying it as proof to a GLOBAL issue. From the article above, "This is showing us that, over the past century, most of Antarctica has not undergone the fairly dramatic warming that has affected the rest of the globe," Monaghan said.

"fairly dramatic warming that has affected the rest of the globe" does not exactly make me wrong...It simply turns you into a political spin artist.

Tell the scientists who have said this that it is "ridiculous and ill informed thinking".

Some also attribute similar temperature changes on Mars to the same thing, so it's not all a bunch of idiots who are saying this. Please think before you speak.
