Congratulations on your daughter! My baby girl just turned 8. Instead of Princess, Daddy calls her Your Majesty. With a girl, you never know what you're going to get! My daughter has never liked anything "girly." She does karate and plays little league baseball. Daddy coaches her team. She loves Pokemon and Spiderman and hates having anything in her hair. She has barbies, but they never come out. She routinely schools her daddy at Madden football for the Xbox. Most of her friends are boys.

Just thought I let you folks know that 72 hours ago, the wife delivered (naturally, no less!) a healthy, 9 lb baby girl!
We're still cooped up in the hospital due to some lingering health issues, but hope to go home tomorrow, Good Lord willin!

And would one of you gentlemen who are Father to a daughter yourself be kind enough to send me:

a) the "girl" manual
b) any information you have on joining the NRA

As the father of a nearly 10 year old daughter, all I have to say is that there is no manual and even there was one, it would only apply to one girl and it wouldn't be yours.

As far as joining the NRA, that's not necessary. Just buy a shotgun and blow away any boy that comes within 10 yards of the house.

Congratulations!!! There's a reason the saying is "thank Heaven for little boys" . You'll be great, just love her always with an open heart and mind, that's what my plan is for my baby boy.

oh and this week is called hell week. i promise you, your wife will survive, just be extra kind right now. the first few weeks are beyond tough and scary, but somehow survivable. you will look back on this and laugh.
