I agree. I really don't see what a lot of people here are dogging him over. I think he sounds great.

I cringe every time the judges (I use that term extremely losely) say that his voice is mature. It's the farthest thing FROM mature. Whenever I hear him sing, I'm hearing a 12 year old boy singing with zero control of his larynx. It's sad that he's gotten this far.

Almost every male singer in this competition is a better singer than this little twerp. He's got zero tonal range, zero stylistic range. Has this little fucktard even sung a song outside of the disney-ballad style? Where's the rock, where's the dance, wheres all of the fucking 'chances' that the three amigos force on the other contestants. Please, take note...he hasn't jumped outside of his extremely limited stylistic comfort zone. Then you look at someone like Chakeze, who fucking OWNED last week. He came out with something so far off his beaten path and kicked ass and took names...and I don't like Chakeze(Sp?)...but I know he kicked ass.

I just dont get it with David Archuletta. He's simply NOT good. I scratch my head when the three amigos collectively suck this twerp cockstain's dick every time he sings. If he were ANY other contestant, he would have been fucking SKEWERED by the judges for forgetting the words last week. They threw him softballs...it was sickening. If it were any other contestant, Simon would have had them crying on stage for fucking up the words to a god-forsaken Beatles tune of all things. WTF!!!! Meawhile, they're all like "you forgot the words, but you're still wonderful!!!"

Oh.....and, he has the fucking balls to put on this 'Awe Schucks' routine every fucking time he hears from the judges and make it that much fucking worse.

David Archuletta, the reason why American Idol sucks. Every year, there's at least one. This past year, its been Archuletta, Noriega. Previous years, Ruben Stoddard, Fantasia, William Hung, Sanjaya, etc. All completely fucking useless, wastes of oxygen....that should never have gotten ANY recognition for their singing....

Ugh, may David Archuletta be voted off this fucking farce of a show and I hope the little twat cries the whole plane ride home and refuses to eat his PB&J with the crusts cut off for the next 4 months, in protest.

AMEN!!!! That kid adds a new picture to the dictionary of lame.

The majority of people obviously disagree with you based on the voting. I seriously don't see what you are seeing wrong with his voice. He is not out of key at all, and he has great control. I could see if you were bashing that Sanjaya kid - he couldn't sing worth a fuck. But David has a really good voice. If he as bad as some of you are saying, surely Randy and Paula would be much more critical of him.

Sorry, but the majority is rarely indicative of anything, including talent. That kid has limited range, and if he ever sung a song by Journey I'd have to do something drastic like puncture my ear drums.

I'm with Voyager - I don't hear the voice issue that some are hearing.

On a side note - the judges

1. Randy = constructive

2. Paula = worthless as judge but needed to balance out

3. Simon = spot on (99% of the time), and verrrry easy on the eyes! :D

Oh well. Believe it or not, a rare few people say Steve Perry sucks (just read some of the YouTube comments on Journey songs). Granted, this kid is not in the league of Steve Perry, but I think he will become a big recording artist. He's only 17 and has a big future in music ahead of him.

This one gets my vote (not literally, since I can't actually vote  )

Michael Johns

. . . although I agree he's got to start picking better songs

I think David A's pretty good for a 17 year old kid, and if you're a 17 year old kid yourself.

A few issues here.

First, the voting. Unless AI has started something new by releasing vote tabulations, you have ZERO idea of the voting order other than what they reveal as the 'bottom 2 or 3' every week. For all you know, the little twerp could be clocking in 4th from the last every week. So your assertion of the 'majority of people' is ludicrous. Hell, it wouldn't take anywhere near a so-called "majority" to stay out of the bottom 3. That's basic, 3rd grade math. You're jumping to massive assumptions here to try to prove your point and trying to cement it in with words above your understanding, like majority. Sorry...it's not flying.

Second, lets enter your fantasy for a second and assume that Artichoke is clocking in at the top of the voting every week. Ask yourself why? And the answer isn't one based on talent or ability. The deciding factor in these competitions is almost always a case of a popularity contest. Artichoke represents a teen-beat, teen-idol that drqaws the teenage girl vote. I gaurantee you, these little 12-14 year old girls are outvoting any of us by a factor of 30. They'll sit there and fucking smack redial until 10:59:59PM just to make sure little Artichoke can sing another week...They have ZERO concept of true talent...because this age bracket is the age bracket that has been gah-gah over artists like New Kids on the Block, Hansen, Britany Spears, Christina Agulera, and loads of other talentless pricks that infest our airwaves every day.

The concept that music is good because it sells or gets voted-for more, is an age old idiocy-based flawed argument. Artichoke is geting votes because 12 year old girls aren't getting soaked panties from Michael Johns, Chakize or David Cook...even though just one of those three singers has more talent than 30 David Artichoke's combined.

Second, his singing. Is *not* good. His intonation is wavy at times, he lacks control over his voice (he sings at ONE dynamic) and he's never stretched out beyond the disney-cabaret format he comfortably sings every week. To make matters worse, he's getting a free ride from the judges, for god knows why....and while he fucks up beatles songs (something Simon would take a bat to the side of the head of any other contestant), the three amigos give him a complete pass.

I'm sorry, the fact of the matter is that David Artichoke is very much like Obama....he's not getting put through the ringer, to distill the best man (or woman) in the race (whether it's AI's competition or the dem-race). Sadly, if Artichoke wins this, it will result in another AI winner that does DICK with their album release...because the best man/woman didn't win.

Think about it. There have been AI winners that were complete fucking bombs. Reuben Studdard has had a completely uselessly shitty career since he won. Same with that Ho, Fantasia. Most of the time, the 'successful' artists out of AI are *not* winners. The only two years where I can agree that the winner had a righteous move into a career, is the first (Kelly Clarkson) and the year where Carrie Underwood won. The first year was a success because the craze wasn't established...and voting was more genuine. The Carrie Underwood year was a success because of a handful of factors. They had two equally amazing contestants out of genres that the threeamigos didnt know how to handle (country and southern rock). In both cases they couldn't manipulate the votes the way they've done in the past...and as a result, the competition had to play out in an organic fashion.

Trust me, if Artichoke gets to the top spot, his album will be a complete flop. I'll bet my left testicle on it.

I don't get into the show that much to get involved in voting. I just thought the kid sounded pretty good. It's not that much of an issue to me.

Does anyone actually think the end result is based on "voting". I'm sure it's a few shirts who take some of the voting into perspective but ultimately make decisions based on market value, etc. Notice how they havn't really stepped on the same marketing demographic twice in a row. ;)

My perdiction is Archuletta will be in the finals or pretty damn close. He's got the "popular" vote down pact by all the teenagers.

The two I think that are pretty damn good is Carly Smithson, amazing vocalist.. definitely has the power and range.
And I personally like David Cook, he's great vocally and puts more into his performances, that the others lack.

I didnt care for him at first but he's starting to grow on me. I dont see him winning but hopefully he'll shine enough to be able to do his own thing.
