The reason I am such a huge Stryper/Michael Sweet fan is because it's what they/he wrote that finally made all of it really touch my heart and soul.
I was first drawn to Stryper because their music was/is exactly the rock sound I like. I had always wanted to believe..but after hearing those lyrics put to that music..I was blown away..there was no turning back. It was all very brilliant and unreal.. 8)
I promote To Hell With The Devil so much because whenever I listen to it..I not only have to give credit to a lot of those songs helping me to get to where I needed to be..but it continues to help keep me there..because all I can do is when I listen to it is be at the right place and think how brilliantly Michael makes me realize just how unreal all of it is.

wrong Dean. God loves you. you know that. it is all about faith and a relationship, not a bunch of random acts.

you too, SJ.

Don't tell me God loves me. I know better. He is a dick to me. A lot of shit has happened for all the wrong reasons. I am definitely on strike with him. I am doing fine being a GDI.

Dean, you don't know squat. What is happening to you is being done by you ( except for one thing), not God. God isn't a prick and does stuff to people. We were given free will, and we excercise that free will. And in exercising that free will, we are the ones that set the tone of our lives, and what happens in it.

Deb is right. God does love you.

Fuck off.

Lovely Dean! Just showing how much education you have in those two words. Grow up.

Dean, I'm not trying to bust your balls here, but that piece of paper isn't going to help you when you leave earth. I'm not trying to judge you (As I don't want anyone to judge me), but I think they're just trying to help you. A degree does help (Some of the time) in the world we live in, so I applaud you and anyone else that continues on with their education. For the record...God DOES love you!

I believe in God. Most definitely. And that love is why I'm still here today, because I have beaten all the odds. So far, so good. But I have a long way to go.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

we all do. but it's so much better if we "journey" together.

ya know, friends and fellow believers show up in the most unforseen places. I have met the most wonderful people here. Even if 'we' have a rep 'out there', we know better. and we don't have to believe the same way in order to be in love with each other. awesome.

Since 1984 and the two most important things Ive learned are not to judge anyone, because its not my place and its all about loving your neighbor whoever that might be.

Was born to Christian parents lost my religion in 1990. Biblical archaeology not finding anything is so huge to me I cannot even describe its impact on how I feel, "The Christ Conspiracy" book as well as astrotheology itself really put an end to my faith. I understand now why there was the 'golden calf' in the Old Testament & why the ram was worshipped after that & why Christians use the fish as their symbol: Age of Taurus, Age of Aries, Age of Pisces.

when 9/11 happened that definitely changed some of my opinions on things also.i think it was a huge wake up call that things weren't going to be so carefree anymore and that we weren't as insulated and safe as we thought we were.i do think quite a few people started thinking about things after the terrorist attacks happened than before.whats even scarier is there are predictions that another attack could occur within the next year and they are saying we have already become too complacent since time has passed from the last attack.

I posted this on the Bible Thumping thread but wanted to post it here too:

Most religious groups (especially the extremist ones) preach condemnation against people who do not ascribe to their beliefs. I think the word that defines a group as safe or unsafe is "tolerance". If people are tolerant of others who are not like them, you can have a safe group. If people are intolerant of certain races, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, etc., all that does is promote hatred and bigotry. No one is safe in a group like that, because at any moment they might get disfellowshipped for something they believe or don't believe. I've seen it happen first hand. I was in a church once where the pastor started excommunicating gays and anyone who would try to stick up for them. Eventually over 20 people were excommunicated from the church. Shortly thereafter my wife and I left due to this bigotry that we could no longer tolerate. After we left, the pastor blacklisted us by name from the pulpit and labelled me "mentally ill" just because we had an issue with what happened. From that day on, none of the 450 people of that church would even look at me or my wife. Even my own cousin wouldn't talk to me for two years (until he finally escaped with his wife and family also). That did it for me and organized religion. Who needs it?

I am very serious about being a Christian, BUT....I respect people's right to believe what they believe. I don't go around preaching to people because basically, I let my life and the choices I make, do the talking for me. If someone is interested in the way I live my life, I am happy to talk about it. But I will not beat people over the head with it!!!!

And I have news for my fellow Christians who condemn others for ANY reason....if you're using the Bible as a weapon to hurt people, then you need to read it more carefully. It ALSO says that he who condemns and judges others harshly will be so judged and condemned by God. He is the judge, NOT you.

Thank you.

1. Faith
2. Probably not!
3. The question is inaccurate, really -- it's decided on an individual basis rather than by group, though you can say that the general beliefs of these groups do not contain the correct doctrines or practices for salvation.

Hey, same here about the JW's! I used to invite them in and debate them (very kindly and respectfully), but just avoid them now. Something we have in common!

Good answers Rip.

And btw...for #1? I think this verse puts that one to rest.."
for by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: not of works, lest any man boast" Ephesians 2:8-9

All I'm gonna say is that I pray daily for your health, happiness and hope.
