No...but my 10 year old self bought the 45 (still have all my 45's for that matter)...and it holds the dubious distinction of being the first song I ever danced with a boy to.

The singer? Mickey Thomas, who went on to Jefferson Starship. He still sings it in concert.

Not really "AM Gold" but I also remember hearing the original Journey version of "On A Saturday Night" on the radio in the 70's.

The Grass Roots rocked - the lead singer change up between Warren Entner and Rob Grill was great!

I heard that there was really no group "Steam" per se, that the song was released before the lyrics were finished, became a hit and then they had to throw the group together. Probably why they were "one-hit-wonders". I love that song.

That would be interesting to know. I heard he had a 4 octave range, and he is 59 years old now. According to his Wiki, he is working on a group with Anysley Dunbar. Wonder if age has gotten to him voice-wise. Even though he had huge hits with Elvin Bishop and Starship, it always seemed like Mickey was "under the radar" and people never knew his name, they just liked the songs.

Oh man, thanks for that link!!!

1. Couldn't take my eyes off of Steve - what a doll, and what a VOICE

2. Greg Rolie and Steve Perry, damn they were good together

3. Neal was fantastic through the entire song. He and Lindsey Buckingham have the talent of making it sound like they are playing multiple guitars - I think I enjoyed the guitar as much as the vocals in that song.

Ah, memories. Except here was Journey in all their glory and I'm so into the Bee Gees I can't see straight! :D Oh well, The Bee Gees had a ten year head start in my life, but Journey made up for it! :D
