Possibly only the european release will include FITH :?: I like the song, but no need to redo that on this release.

Not to beat a dead horse...but I still have no desire to hear the classics re-recorded. That has to be a pure internal business decision.

I'll say it again...would the other true classic bands re-record their hits with new lead singers?

Led Zep do a new Stairway to Heaven? Aerosmith do a new Sweet Emotion? The Who without Daltry? Boston re-doing Delp songs? Beatles with a Lennon fill-in? I could go on and on. I'm sure I'm missing something, but I just don't get it.

New Journey with Arnel...good. Journey redoing classics with anyone...bad.

Im not made up about it, but am I the only one who can see some logic in this?

Yes, I'm sure you're probably correct. That still doesn't make it a good idea.

That horse SHOULD be beaten. In fact, that fucking band should be beaten for doing it.

Why is everyone so uptight about the re-records? It's not like they have a shred of integrity left anyway.

I'd rather have the bloody DVD than the re recordings.
I might smash the re recording CD with a hammer now as a protest.

Re-recording FITH is fucking lazy.
Re-recording pretty much the entire GH disc is fucking lazy.

I WAS going to give it a chance, but now I'm not interested.

It makes it look like they don't really believe in their new material, like the only way to sell it is to attach it to something people already know.

What a fuckin' joke........CYCLORAMA will never be eclipseped by aynthing Journey do now. That's a fuckin' good album no matter what anyone states and it doesn't need an Asian audience for commercial reasons..in other words they won't sell themselves out for a quick buck.

It's a good strategy, but lazy to me. How many times have we heard all of these damn re-records? I was sick of hearing OA, Faithfully, DSB, WITS, etc 6 years ago!!

Maybe not the "only" way it will sell, but I am certain it makes the package look more appealing to many who have "forgotten" Journey. They see those names of songs they remember so well and they say "hey, I wonder what else is on here"? It's business, pure and simple. Should it be about business? No. But it is just the same...

But you are not the average consumer. I listen to Escape nowadays, the album I considered a masterpiece, and I skip 4 songs now. Simply becuase I am tired of hearing them...

I'm not speaking as the average consumer. I'm speaking as a fan who is frustrated with Journey's direction since Arrival. Journey was my favorite band since I was 7 in 86.. now I'd be generous to say they are in my top 10.

No, but the average consumers are the ones that GH and Essential were already marketed toward.

Those types of compilations are put out for the casual fan who knows a band by their hits, not the die hard who have all the original albums. So now the average consumers are getting yet another go around of the same track list. They should just change the band name to K-Tel at this point. This is the fourth go around with a compilation album.

I still say if they really had faith in Arnel and in their new material, they wouldn't need to tack on the favorites to get people to but the new stuff. Its lame and sad.

They're hanging on to whatever and yes the DVD attachment like so many strugling bands is the commercial option and an introdution in lands outside the US were, let's face it, most locals haven't a fuckin' clue who Journey are...they probably think it's a new Alan Whicker programme

This is the very essence of the problem I have with Journey today. It's just whoever happens to be singing at the time singing the words. There is no emotion, there is no passion for these songs from this band anymore. You see my avatar? That is why I count down the days, hours and seconds to see Lifehouse. It's emotion, passion -- bringing the music to life and touching people with it. Journey doesn't do that for me anymore. Ya, it's a fun concert (if you can afford it!) but that's about it. :(
