OT: The World Wants Obama

If the World wants Obama, then thats a sure sign that hes the wrong choice for President. They never want anything thats good for us. I'm sure that they see him as weak and easier to push around.

The world doesn't want Bush - is that a sign that he was good for America? The world liked Clinton - was he bad for America?

Here are the reasons that people give when they say they don't like Obama:

1. Obama had a pastor that went overboard on a few sermons (which a lot of them do). My reply to that would be: If a church member sits under the teaching of a pedophile priest - does that make him become a pedophile? What if a college student spends 10 hours a week under the teaching of a racist professor - does that make him/her become a racist?

2. Obama has a weird name that people like to twist to make him out to be a Muslim extremist, which is ridiculous.

3. Obama made a boo-boo when talking about guns and religion.

4. Obama leans to the left about as far as Hillary does.

5. Obama would prefer to go after the perpetrators of 9/11 instead of fighting a country that did not invade us first.

If this is all the dirty laundry that they can find on Obama, he's doing much better than most candidates. None of these issues are legitimate reasons that he would not be a good president in my opinion.

I honestly hope they end up on a joint ticket. It would be good for America. But I'd prefer Obama in the lead so that Bill doesn't get too much power from behind the scenes. He's already had his eight years.

The black pastors get a little more animated than some of their white counterparts, but I truly don't believe the guy is anti-American anymore than the pastors who preach fire and brimstone from their pulpits every Sunday. Since all we heard was a soundbite, we really don't know much about the guy. I personally have heard sermons when I was younger and forced to attend a pentecostal church where the pastor damned the USA all the time - but it didn't make me or anyone else unpatriotic. It happens a lot more than most people realize.

The US military along with the Iraqi military are killing and capturing Al-Qaeda members in Iraq.

Nevermind that he preaches to his congregation that the US government created AIDS to kill black people. That's some amazing stuff right there. There is no way on this earth I'd allow my children to be indoctrinated by that kind of lunatic. You can excuse him as a crazy fire and brimstone pastor all you want, but the guy has real hatred going on in him and that is not what church is supposed to be about. I would have heard that shit one time and walked out. I'd never look back either.

I'm sure some of the things I believe in my faith are offensive to some. In fact, Jesus himself said that he would be a stumblingblock and that people would be offended even just because of his name. Why do you think so many people turn his name into a curse word? Why do many people get so uncomfortable just at the mention of it? He also said people would hate his followers for his sake. Boy, isn't that the truth?

The point is, if someone knows my beliefs and is offended by them, I wouldn't expect them to remain friends or even associate with me in any manner. That's the way it is. Obama didn't do that. If he really thinks some of "Reverend" Wright's beliefs are that offensive, then had the obligation to remove himself from supporting that man and the church that perpetuated those same beliefs. If the pastor of my church said some of those types of things about blacks, for instance, you better believe myself and the others in our congregation would ask for him to resign or be fired or we would leave the church.
