This is a brilliant marketing idea to get Revelation out there to the masses! I'm not a huge fan of WalMart, but this has been very, very good for Journey.

Dayyyyyyummmmm!!!

That's pretty frickin' spectacular, even if I weren't a Journey fan. Every unit sold = 2 CDs. If they move 50,000 of these bad boys, that's 100,000 more CDs counted toward 'Revelation' going platinum. Holy cripes.

I'll be surprised if they don't sell a whole heck of a lot more ..... just on the packaging alone .....

The packaging IS pretty cool. but I still say ripoff.
1 GB? Again... 10 bucks more will get you a 2gb iPod Shuffle that will hold all 14 albums. 8)

Death to 2G shuffles. I can't see what I'm picking or scroll or anything... just random flipping.

Let it be known here and now, that I will buy this thing, and ONLY because it's pretty/Journey swag. I'm still in the market for an iPod touch (or iPhone). 8)

Oh I think this'll sell really well at X-mas time. I see three waves of marketing and album sales (and this mp3 player is an album too, keep in mind):

Wave #1 -- Release of 'Revelation' thru beginning of tour (June 3 - July 7)
Release of new CD and DVD, European tour, "Ellen Show" appearance. CD sales (on RIAA standards) hit 500,000 by July 7th.

Wave #2 -- 'Revelation' U.S. concert tour (July 8 - October 7)
55 U.S. concert dates, Journey on VH-1 Classic, Journey on "CBS Morning Show", 'Revelation'-branded mp3 player. CD sales hit 1,000,000 by October 7th.

Wave #3 -- post tour marketing (October 8 - December 31)
CD sales continue to grow thru Christmas (to 1.25 million?), helped by mp3 player sales, other branding and marketing (including earned media about successful tour and CD), and certification of 'Revelation' as platinum.
