Mine randomly does a sort of deejay fade out, fade in between two songs every now and then.

Oh yeah, mine used to do this also. You need to go into your itunes settings and turn the fade function off. I'll look for a link.

Mine randomly does a sort of deejay fade out, fade in between two songs every now and then. My sister's periodically said "disc mode" and froze for a day or two at a time...till she threw it out the car window and ran over it.

I think they all come with a resident teeny tiny little gremlin...

This isn't "fade"... this is "plays 30 seconds of a song then stops and goes to the next song".

And its not a random occurance. It does it each time you play the song until you go into iTunes and (I presume) reload it. God damn gremlins.

If it's an older Ipod, the Hard drive might be dying which can cause it to skip ahead like that.

I think that's actually the worst thing you can do!!! Others would surely know more, though. I remember when I saw one in Best Buy for the first time. I was baffled as to how they got a cassette in such a fucking small device!!!

You are definitely going to shorten the overall lifespan of the battery if you don't let the battery discharge at least halfway once in awhile.

I'm pretty sure that's still true for things like mp3 players, but now with laptop batteries, they have moved away from that concept. Now, they go on the number of charges the battery has. After a certain number, you have to replace the battery even if you have drained the battery each time you use it.

Not sure if they are doing that with iPods and other mp3 players yet.

Yeah, 1GB storage for an MP3 players nowadays is nothing. And to be honest, if you're buying this thing for the mp3 player, you're wasting your money. Walmart has other 1GB mp3 players for a fraction of the cost (I believe I saw a Scandisk player for $11.) Since most of you already have the Journey Revelation package, you can simple just rip the songs to the player yourself and save you some money. I realize it's to "benefit" the band (pad their wallets) and to up record sales, but it's still a waste of money.

Perhaps your ipod just has good taste?  :P

Why do you assume I have nothing but crummy songs?
You could be right though - let me load Revelation and see what happens.
I'll get back to ya.

No really, it is.

Eff that shiza. I had one. Suck-ass battery life and then corrupted itself. Sonofawhore. Took it back. I'm holding out for the iPhone I'm getting tomorrow. I'll buy this ZVUE, too, but mostly as a keepsake thing.

How long was your battery life?

2 hours. Lasted through each commute each day. Was fully charged each morning. It was cursed.

Try this.

Having same problem. Another post said right click songs affected in itunes and convert to AAC format- works for mine.

BUT if you need to do this to lots of songs a real pain in the ***!!

Here's a thread about it.

If it's only on the IPOD, I'm thinking the harddrive is about to fail but I don't know how you can check it.

From the thread I posted above. It seems it's a software issue in the ipod. Don't get her thinking about throwing it out her car window and driving over it like her sister.

I, fortunately did not get sucked into the apple Ipod black hole. I have an 8 gig RCA opal. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE it. dont even have it a 1/4 of the way full, and have a shitload on there. i do some tinkering with a computerless friends ipod, and it makes me want to take a hammer to the POS every single time. Neat lil toy from walmart tho.

I've never seen one of these. With or without the Journey skin on it.

i checked but that isn't it.i thought it was shuffle too but everytime i burn an MP3 with 30 or 40 songs the damn thing will do it.a lot of these burners do that and i'm not tech savvy enough to figure out how to do it.like i recorded every journey album in order from infinity to raised on radio.instead of playing the songs in order starting from infinity the damn thing starts off with an escape song, then a departure song,etc.,etc. it seems to want to go by root files or something because it will put them in that same order every time, lol.

anyone know how to bypass that problem?
