I have to alter my prediction. With all the heated discussion over that bum, McMahon, I forgot I actually picked Dallas to win the NFC. What the hell was I thinking??? The freakin' Cowboys haven't won a single playoff game in 12 years, and NO team with that buffoon Phillips as their head coach is going to the Super Bowl! WILL NOT HAPPEN! I'll go out on a limb and pick Seattle for my NFC team, and if Favre goes back to Green Bay, they will be my NFC pick to head to the big game!

My love affair with the Chokers ended the day Stan Humphries' career ended. He was laying on the turf and not one teammate knelt down to check on him or to see if he was even concious. And did Spanos call out the linemen for it, NO. As long as Spanos owns the Chargers, they can stay titleless for all I care. They got to the big game once and what did they do?, they Let Steve "Concussion" young throw a record 6 td's against them and they gave up the fastest two touchdowns in Super Bowl history up to that point and they act like it's the qb's fault. I'm putting my voodoo hex on Spanos and his GNC enhanced thugs.

Do you even watch football, dude??? The Steelers are a complete fraud of a team and the Vikings have no QB! Generally speaking, teams NEVER win in the NFL, without a QB. The 1985 Bears and 2001 Ravens are exceptions to that rule, but both of those teams had defenses that simply couldn't be scored on. Minnesota has NOWHERE near that caliber of defense!

On to more pressing issues...The Patriots will vindicate themselves (with or without video tape), and defeat Dallas in the Super Bowl!

Thats a pretty strong statement considering training camp just started!! Considering that Roethlisberger had his best season last year and they've added
Rashard Mendenhall at RB to compliment Parker , 6-5 Limas Sweed at wide out and Dennis Dixon who could end up playing a slash role. They also drafted Bruce Davis who had 25 sacks last year for UCLA. The only big question mark is the O-Line and they still made the playoffs last year despite Roethlisberger being sacked 46 times. I will go so far as to bet you $50.00 that they make the playoffs and get out the first round. What do you say? :)

My fast answer is that I stand by my statement. The Steelers always have a bunch of guys who run their mouths, and I generally don't like teams like that. The Steelers lost to some really bad teams last season. I like Roethlisberger and think he's a solid NFL QB. That said, you can't hang your hat on a guy who had 25 sacks in college. It means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The college game and NFL game have nothing in common, other than they're both called "football". Brian Bosworth was a stud player in college, and Doug Flutie is one of the top 5 college QB's in the history of college football. The NFL is a VERY different game. I promise you that Bruce Davis won't have 10 sacks this season...let alone 25! As for your bet that they'll make the playoffs and get out of the first round...way to set those goals high, my friend! I never said the Steelers won't make the playoffs. They'll get in by default. I'll bet you ANY amount of money that they're not going to the Super Bowl, and at the end of the day, winning the big game is all that really matters!

I wasn't hanging my hat on Davis, just saying they had had a good draft which I know means nothing until you prove ot the field. As far as big mouths, that would only be TWO Players that I remember lately. Joey Porter and Anthony Smith whose Ass I would like to kick. As far as the Super Bowl, Ill go there and bet you $50.00 that they do make it. That would probably mean that they beat the Patriots along the way, which I would enjoy immensely!!

If the Steelers beat the Patriots, Colts, or Chargers, it would be nothing more than a fluke. They are simply not as good of a team as the other three teams! Fortunately for you, the best team doesn't always win in the NFL. The 2007 Giants are a classic example of that!

John from Boston

p.s. Even older Steelers teams had big mouths! I remember the season they were making predictions and reservations for the Super Bowl, before they even played the Patriots! The Patriots then went into Pittsburgh and handed the Steelers a whooping! I enjoyed that, "immensely" . Wasn't another guy on the Steelers running his mouth last season, before the Patriots game and predicting a victory???? How did that work out? The Steelers should spend a lot less time running their big mouths and more time playing football!

Yes, that would be Anthony Smith who I can pretty much guarantee wont be starting this year!! He was starting in place of Ryan Clark who was injured. The guy was an idiot to make those comments. Regardless, I guess we will see if the Steelers can "Fluke" their way into a 6th ring!

It's almost that time y'all...so here are mine. Aug 9th you KNOW I'll be in front of a TV.
As always...I will do my wildcard predictions after the regular season starts.

NFC

Cowboys: I've said it all during the off season that they're amping up for a Super Bowl run this year...and I think they will do it. Here's hoping anyway (for me). lol

Vikings: Normally I would pick GB, but with all the Favre drama, I think they'll be too damn distracted to play football. And the Viks have Peterson, so that's a few rushing TD's right there. If they picked up a couple of good defensive players in the draft (I didn't really pay attention to anyone but the 'Boys)...they'll be unstoppable in the North. Alls they need is a GREAT QB to make it happen.

Tampa Bay: This division is in shambles, so the Bucks take it by default. PLUS, I think Garcia will lead them to some great wins.

Seahawks: Another division that's just total shit. Seattle is the best of the litter.

AFC

Pats: Yes, the fucking Pats AGAIN. lol. The Bills, Jets, nor 'Fins have it in them to take the Pats out of the running this year. It WILL be interesting to see what Parcells does with the 'Fins this year, though.

North: I'm REALLY conflicted this year between the Steelers and the Browns. Both have rather decent teams, but it's BOTH of their inconsistencies that kinda have me leery about picking one of the 2. So, until after preaseason (I WILL do regular season predictions as I did last year) I'll go with the Steelers for now.

Jags: I think they're a powder keg just waiting to blow up in the South. But time will tell.

Chargers: Another SHIT division. Did ya think I was gonna pick the fucking Raiders?? LOL. Depending on what they did in the draft, though, the Broncos and Chiefs might surprise me.

I think the Browns are gonna win their division this year. They have really improved on defense which was their weakest spot. Hopefully Derek Anderson will be the quarterback he was the first 1/2 of the season and not the 2nd half. Although I am still convinced he is the quality quarterback everyone thinks he is. I'm hoping Brady Quinn gets his shot this year.

I think the Browns will win their division. I don't think they are Super Bowl bound. Maybe another year or so.

My Super Bowl Prediction is Colt vs. Packers with Colts winning.

Now that these guys have someone to pal around with (each other) I see them having no issues. They can cry to each other. I'll tell you what, though...both of those fuckers are outstanding football players and back up their talk with their play. Dallas has a very solid team this year.

Yeah, but that team is loaded and hungry. Packers were their main competition last year, and they will not be as good with Rodgers. The Giants were a one year fluke. The Vikings are the "sexy" pick this year, but those never pan out. I think the Cowboys stand head and shoulders above the rest of the NFC, although it pains me to say that. I hope the Skins are competitive this year, but I doubt it. Same with the Ravens. I hate first year coaches.

It has nothing to do with being a fluke, NIG. The Cowboys have talented players. What I'm telling you is that in the big games, coaches matter, and matter a lot, in the NFL! Phillips is a JACKASS, and has ALWAYS been a JACKASS! Just to prove to you that even a blind squirrel finds a nut, every now and again, I remind you that Barry Switzer (another moron) won a Super Bowl with the Cowboys, because their talent FAR overshadowed his incompetence! The difference is that this current crop of Cowboy players doesn't include a stracked offensive line and Emmitt Smith!

Listen...I don't know the guy personally, as you do. That said, I think he was an incompetent head coach, at the NFL level! Whether or not someone knows and likes Switzer, personally, doesn't change my opinion of the coach he was! He was simply along for the ride on that Super Bowl train, that wasn't going to be derailed, by ANYONE. He was as responsible for that championship as the water boy was

I agreed with you on that, John!!!

While everybody else picks Dallas and Seattle, I'll go ahead and watch my Redskins become this year's sleeper team that makes it all the way and wins it all. After all, the last two times the Giants have made it to the big show and won it all, the Redskins have done it the very next year.

Seriously, it's going to be a very interesting year and I don't really see Dallas being that far ahead of everybody else in the NFC.

As far as I know it, we here in Pittsburgh don't tolerate players opening their mouths. It happened last year and we payed miserably for it.. and so did Anthony Smith who this day is 2nd on the depth chart behind starter Ryan Clark. That is coming from a young, tough as nails kid in his second year getting a start in the NFL. It was takin' out of context. Yes he opened his mouth.. he's young and will learn..esp. a place like Pittsburgh. I've seen worse.

Take a look at your own team, John. You do know you own #1 scrumbag in the NFL that is Rodney Harrison? What a prick. This is the same team who DISRESPECTFULLY danced in the middle of the field with their win over the Chargers to cause a sturr. The same team who DISRESPECTFULLY waved terrible towels at Steelers' fans after their win in the '04 championship game. The same team whose coach couldn't give a SINGLE HANDSHAKE after their defeat in the Superbowl loss against the Giants. Plus, they get caught.. CHEATING! (How's the tuck rule working out for yah?)Not this year, but those handful of wins in past Superbowl seasons. Your team, is by far, pieces of shit and it starts at the top with your sore loser, bum head coach. Good luck trying to repeat an un-defeated season, it 'aint happening and the blue print is out on how to beat you pri-Madonnas. Your time has passed. And I'll bet YOU and all of ME that New England will NOT make it to the Superbowl this year.. book mark it!!

As for booking hotels in advance...EACH TEAM DOES THAT! It's required! The Patriots had rooms booked just as Pittsburgh did! Lets not be fuckin' stupid here.

Listen, my adolescent friend...You're too young to remember even Kordell Stewart, but the same shooting off of the pie-holes happened when Stewart and Company were part of the Steelers organization!

I'm pretty sure the Patriots aren't my "own team". They just happen to be a team that plays in the part of the country that I grew up in!

YoungJRNY wrote:You do know you own #1 scrumbag in the NFL that is Rodney Harrison? What a prick.

HUH???? Not sure where this even comes from. If you think Rodney Harrison is a "scumbag", so be it. I suspect he probably isn't losing any sleep over it!

GEEZ...I guess I was right about the younger generation. You poor souls can't spell a word to save your life. I believe the word you might be looking for is STIR! As far as the incident is concerned, I don't condone it. I honestly thought it was uncalled for, and classless!

YoungJRNY wrote:The same team who DISRESPECTFULLY waved terrible towels at Steelers' fans after their win in the '04 championship game.

Nothing disrespectful about this. I'd personally stuff one of those obnoxious rags down the throat of Steeler Nation, if I were playing for the Patriots. The Patriots showed up, beat the Steelers on their own turf, and were simply telling their fans to shove their yellow "hankys" up their asses, and I enjoyed every second of it!

YoungJRNY wrote:The same team whose coach couldn't give a SINGLE HANDSHAKE after their defeat in the Superbowl loss against the Giants.

Once again, not anything I would condone. I found it to be a disgusting display of sportsmanship and was appalled by it. As someone who grew up playing the game of football, it's simply not acceptable to not display sportsmanship, in victory or defeat!

YoungJRNY wrote:Plus, they get caught.. CHEATING!

My stance on this hasn't and won't ever change. Videotaping the other coaches and players signals happens in football. Always has and always will. My high school coaches used binoculars, in an effort to get the other team's signals, and anyone who has ever played the game knows it goes on. This is why NFL coaches are always blocking their mouths with their clipboards. They are well aware that the other team is trying to get their signals, and change their signals, constantly, and do everything in their power to disguise their signals. It's all part of the cheating, ah-hem, I mean gamesmanship that goes on in the NFL

Once again, let me help a young, intellectually challenged, man out. I believe the term you're looking for is "prima donnas". Now that you know how to spell prima donna, you should probably look the word up. The Patriots, as a team, are the antithesis of prima donnas! They're all about team accomplishments, and always have been! As far as predicting the Patriots won't go undefeated...that's really going out on a limb! Considering teams pretty much never go undefeated, I certainly don't disagree with that genius prediction. I personally hope the Patriots lose their first game of the season, so they can just get on to playing football, and not deal with the endless media circus that they had to deal with last season!

YoungJRNY wrote:Your time has passed.

I'm pretty sure that my time hasn't "passed", nor has the fine city of Boston's time! We may have lost the Super Bowl, but I'm quite sure that we are home to the reigning MLB and NBA champions

I don't want any part of you, dude, let alone "all of" you! My wife gets jealous when I ask to date

With your atrocious butchering of the English language, you actually have the stones to call me "fuckin' stupid". I can assure you that if you and I took an IQ test, you'd be Pittsburgh, and I'd be the Patriots  I've been watching football, longer than you've been alive, and I can assure you that teams are not booking their Super Bowl rooms before they've even played in the championship round! It does NOT happen and should not happen. You're simply trying to defend that moronic team of misguided players in Pittsburgh who thought they would beat New England, easily. Apparently, they thought wrong! That damn video tape will get them every time

I'm hoping Brady Quinn gets his shot this year.

I won't disagree that the Browns have a DAMN good shot this year..(and I hope the Ravens prove me wrong.) but as far as Quinn goes, I don't think he's ready. It's only his 2nd season as a back-up....he doesn't have the marbles for it yet. Don't get me wrong, I think he'll GET there...but it just won't be this year.
