what's up with the fake Knellsky? I thought you can only register one unique id? how did they knew that it was a fake AP? that was some sick fella in bad need of attention.

oh, btw, who is this JOGS fella that AP seems to be upset about? looks like he owes Arnel tons of money. what a horrible person that JOGS is. I hope AP take some legal actions. I just hate those kind of people.

As I told someone else a couple of days ago...

It's not unusual here in the Philippines to refer to someone named Arnel
as Arnelski or Arnelsky,* (sort of the way you sometimes call a beer/brew "brewski")
thence shortened to Nelsky and then twisted into Knellsky.

-wechski

*The practice seems to go back to the late 60's/early 70's, and may be connected to the
rabid popularity of a Filipino baskeball player's exotic name: Robert Jaworski. The
ballhandler went on to become a Senator.

On Chatango, anonymous/unregistered posters can apparently use any name they wish, even names already
registered. Hence there can be a fake Knellsky. However, the unregistered poster's will then appear neither
underlined, nor bolded. Thus:

Knellsky = the real Arnel Pineda

Knellsky = some pathetic dumbass poseur

The clincher would be a visible online indicator (a green dot) above and to the right of the username.

Arnel's probably a lot tougher and more careful than we might think.
He's said absolutley nothing citable as damaging to Journey, nor do I think he ever would.

Even if he were to openly say that Augeri got dealt a bad hand,
That is NOT the same as saying he was screwed over by persons X, Y or Z.
There was supposedly a medical issue, no? There's your bum deal.

Arnel's singing his heart out, delivering the goods lika a champ, AND is an all-around nice guy.
If staying in touch with fans online is his thing, everone should respect it.
Not all lead vocalists wanna be a recluse.

The mistake wouldn't be Arnel's to learn from, now, would it? ;)

Seriously now...
If a band's frontman is fan-friendly, but someone in management resents it...
who is in the wrong? Who is mistaken? Who needs to learn from past mistakes?

Eeeeets a fakked-ap whirled, I tell you dat.

Admittedly, 78, I used the word "ïf".

As I said on Andrew's "Interview" thread:
I'm not sold on the idea that past Journey frontmen somehow fell into disfavor with management,
specifically because they were fan friendly. The interviews recently given by Neal point believably
to other reasons why those past professional relationships ended.

I don't think Arnel is going to be pressured to curtail his online fanfests, because he has been real
good about neither saying nor allowing even a hint of a slam against Journey Inc.

Doc Fu's right. She correctly pointed out that the online chats serve as a lifeline of sorts for Arnel,
a window outside of the Journey cocoon. No matter how optically exhausting those plok-plok sesions are,
Arnel's doing them almost every other day, for considerable stretches of time.

He does them because he wants to keep in touch with fans (note the farewell shout-out to MR, even),
and because --though he may not be aware of it-- because he needs that interaction to stay healthy
in mind and body. If we want him to have a decent shot at performing well onstage, we have to
support his having these sessions.

I think it's unbelievably generous for Arnel to be finding time to chat. His life HAS to be a whirlwind right now, but he's still finding time to show his appreciation for us. I just think that's awesome--and we MR'ers are treated like royalty over at his site by the "locals". It's really, really unique.

Arnel says he calls his family two or three times A DAY? How much can he be taking care of his voice if he's talking that much? If he's that homesick already, he better suck it up and get over it. He isn't in a bar band anymore. At least not this year.

They would love to hear from you, Andrew, and Arnel has indeed been gracious. He's even given me a few shout outs when I wasn't present, and I hope to have a chance to meet him in Cleveland. At the very least, I sure have great seats!

My opinion is as valid as yours or anybody else who posts on this forum. There's nothing mean spirited about saying the dude has to quit talking half the day and take care of his voice. He is on a tour with two other bands. This isn't just about Journey. There is a bigger picture, so he needs to sort his priorities, if this is the big dream for him that he says it is. There....is that more BT-ish for ya?  Sheesh, kids these days.

How the hell do you know how much he is talking? Have you ever called someone just to hear their voice? It's one thing to break down every single thing someone does on stage or in the studio, or publicly..but to judge him because he wants to be in contact with his family? You gotta lota nerve.

It was the way in which you presented yourself, dude. Came out all levels of wrong as if "Arnel shouldn't miss his family... he can get his ass home and go back to bar gigging, then. How careless of him to use his voice to tell his wife he misses her." Kind of tone to it. If that's not what you meant, maybe be a bit more deliberate in your delivery. Trust me, singers know when to talk and when not to. I got onto my roommate for screaming half the day watching Wimbeldon (tennis... lol) because he had two shows coming up that day. He said he was fine, they know their limits and what they can and can't make their voices do. If he wants to tell his wife and kids he loves them three times a day... by all means.

Arnel knows what he's doing. The guy sang 5-6 nights a week for 5-6 hours. I think it's more important when he calls not how many times he calls. And the word "calls" may have been lost in translation. I'm sure he has a webcam and just enjoys seeing and hearing his loved ones. I wouldn't fault him if he spoke to them 84 times a day. He'll do his job on stage and he's assured everyone that he has the utmost respect for the task at hand and will do everything necessary to make sure when he hits the stage he's in top form. So far, the reviews suggest that he's done just that. 8)

I agree with most of this (except for the suck it up part). Cut back. Use email, etc. Plus, that has to be expensive. He's spending his salary on his phone bill. Cut back.
