Spot on. I could care less if I hear a 60 year old Perry sing his old stuff. However, I'd like to hear a 60 year old Perry put out something new that would give us one last celebration of the voice. I just wish he could come to terms with whatever it is that keeps him from conducting his craft.

I guarantee you that HE is his own worst critic/enemy. HE keeps himself from doing it...not solely because of privacy or long walks on the beach. I bet his biggest problem is fear. Not that he really wants the old Perry, or that fans do, but fear of the unknown. Moreso than anything, he's probably just lost most of his confidence.

Well, I will be waiting, and so will quite a few others. I will not speculate on his state of mind, I do not know the man. I will not speculate who will be on the recordings, nothing has been said. Actually, I agree that FTLOSM is a snoozer. Sure there are some bright spots, but not enough of them.

As for Perry, he has recently said that his voice sounds like "him" and it is awkward to hear it. I think his voice is such a link to memories and emotions and joy and pain that hearing it is very difficult on him.

Actually, I wouldn't be out in left field cause I've never predicted whether the man will put out some new material. I said I'm not gonna worry about it any longer cause he's gone down this road before many times only not to produce anything. Now I'm gonna go find someone who cares.

I've always found that quote "confusing". Seems to me, it would be "painful" for SP to hear his voice if it WASN'T on par with his past...not if it was.

I wonder if the interviewer misquoted Perry.

I agree with you completely. I want to experience a Steve Perry concert.

I was 4 years old during his last tour - needless to say things didn't work out for me to see a show!
