Without a doubt!

Very little/none.

AJ wrote: Hopefully they'll realize how good the new stuff was and will just let them release a totally new CD. IF that's the case, would it only cost 5-6 bucks since 2 CD's and a DVD was 10.88?

A new CD and DVD "Journey: Live In Manila" has an awfully nice ring to it!!! $8.88 would be a nice price.

God, SO TRUE!! My biggest complaints on Revelation AND Arrival come from Jon Cain's input....

Maybe Arnel's input will be the catalyst Neal needs?

Want put a wager on it? I'll bet they have a new cd out before July next year.

In addition to a new cd, I wouldn't mind if they included a covers of other peoples stuff. As Rush did with Feedback and DL on Yeah!

Done right and with some varied tracks, that could be a great disc.

The stuff on Revelation was recorded when, around Nov. maybe? Album hit in June. When are they going to record this year, Jan. or Feb.? It would be a pleasant surprise if something comes out this summer but personally, I would not want something rushed or loaded with covers unless it's other people's hits. No more Journey covers, let's be original please.

Well, it certainly could be done if the band is working up any of the new material during the tour. But we haven't heard anything about that. Rick Springfield's new CD is fantastic and completed in something like 36 days. I think the biggest time-consumption comes from the post-production. Kevin is a busy man...and it apparantly takes time to make Journey sound good! ;)

With all due respect to Kevin Shirley, these songs actaully sound better live.

Have any other big name artists had followup albums with Walmart, or has it been one and done so far?

One and done so far. Eagles was the first, and I doubt we will see another from them. I don't remember all the "exclusives". REO did one more than a year ago but I doubt we will see any follow-up from them. Most of the releases have all been in less than a year...no time for a follow-up yet.

everything has some sort of twist or something unique thrown in these days and i'm wondering what journey will think of with this next one they release.could it be a covers album? maybe something like bon jovi did where they take old songs in the catalog and completely revamp them in a new way?
they'll think of something i'm sure....

If Schon needs to write with Blades to pick up the lyrical slack, so be it.
Cain's cookie-cutter formula has run it's course, I think.

We don't agree often but I agree that Higher Place is the strongest song Journey has recorded post-SP. I still like Arrival the best out of all the post-SP stuff, with Revelation coming in a close second.

Cain's plinky piano formula does need some refining. I'd love to see a mix of the "modern" Journey sound (think Never Too Late, Never Walk Away, Wildest Dreams) with a bit of the "classic" sound brought back (think anything from Sweet and Simple to Winds of March). A return to the prog feel of the first 3 albums is out of the question at this point, so I'm thinkin classic in the sense of vintage Perry. Do they have that in them with Cain? Not sure,...

I agree. Higher place is the biggest standout to me in the post Perry era. I could totally picture Perry singing it.

Neal said he wanted to rock out more in the next album, maybe only two ballads next time. He said Arnel agrees with him. I'm sure Jonathan would want more ballads. Of, course, women usually love the ballads. It should be interesting how it shakes out. I agree with Ehwmatt's idea for the sound. That would be great. I would like to see a nod to the Rolie period, but probably won't see it.

Maybe they should hire Flava Flav. Throw in a few samples of other songs. A scratch here, and beat there. Couple of sirens. Some militant security guards for the stage Show....That would be some Dope Shit... Worked for P.E. THEY are in the HOF.

Just sayin'.......

Good question and something I am really looking forward to. Someone mentioned that Arnel would be helping out with the song writing in the next album. So of course I'm really excited to hear what he contributes.

I am very fond of the Philippines and my friends there and all, but I really won't be excited to hear Tagalog on a Journey album though. An interesting concept however would be if Journey were to release some specific tracks only in the Philippines that would be in Tagalog. I think that would be cool for the fans in the Philippines.

Even filipinos don't release songs in tagalog half the time. If Journey does that, they need to turn in their Rock and Roll card. OPM from Journey would be like them doing covers of Air Supply, they would become dickless.

I DO hope they add another DVD to whatever they release and I think all classic rock bands should do this. I could care less if it's another live DVD or not. It's a bonus and I'd still watch it. The Vegas DVD is great, I've watched it a bunch already.

SJ- When you say Arnel's penned some great songs, where are those?

Here are the songs that Arnel wrote or co-wrote:

# "Iiyak Ka Rin" (You Will Cry Also) (Pineda, Arnel) - 4:29
# "Free Bird" (Pineda, Arnel) - 4:16
# "Mi Vida, Mi Amor" (My Life, My Love) (Pineda, Arnel) - 4:10
# "For My Own Good" (Pineda, Arnel) - 3:45
# Paumanhin, words & music: Arnel Pineda
# So Wrong, words & music: Arnel Pineda, arranged by Monnette Cajipe
# Manhid, words & music: Arnel Pineda, arranged by Monnette Cajipe
# Soulmate, words & music: Arnel Pineda, arranged by Monnette Cajipe
# Too Satisfied, lyrics & vocal melody: Arnel Pineda, arranged & composed by Mark Valiente
# Hiling, words & music: Arnel Pineda, original arrangement: Mark Valiente/Arnel Pineda, alternative arrangement: Monnette Cajipe

... to be honest, among the songs above, I've only listened to "Too Satisfied" on youtube which I really like. I've asked my brother to get me Arnel's albums but it looks like it got lost in the post as it's been 2 months.

With all the Filipinos in the States, Tony winner Lea Salonga hasn't sold shit here in America and it's not from lack of trying. Journey just needs to stick to the formula that let them sell over 50 million albums with Steve Perry. If their next album is their swansong, I don't want it to be some sappy Jose Mari Chan stuff.

Unless they have more Arrival rejects floating around, I just don't see Cain and Schon penning enough new material for a whole album.
Would love to be proven wrong.

You're proven wrong by Cain's home computer, which according to Jeremey contains "over 300" songs in various states of completion.

And knowing Neal, he's got a lot of stuff in the tank too.
