Hateful fuckin music back then. I still don't dig the shit at all, but i have learned to live with it nowadays.

It's a little easier to live with because as someone said most of our favorite bands, even the marginal ones from the 80s hair metal scene are still carrying on today and most of the grunge bands have fallen by the wayside. But to be honest, it's not because the music isn't still precious to a lot of people as some would imply - it's because most of them broke up and/or have had main members pass away. Pearl Jam still does incredibly well, Foo Fighters are clearly a byproduct of the grunge scene, and I dunno who else is out there at this point still together.

I/my generation grew up with that shit so it's always going to hold a certain appeal to me. My friends and I sitting there taping the radio all day to get that new song. Rockin out to it all night long. Watchin the music videos on MTV. I feel fortunate to at least have been a part of probably the last generation to have grown up when music was still somewhat viable in the mainstream. Do I like grunge more than MR nowadays? No, but I still love listening to some of the bands. Can't say I enjoy Nirvana too much anymore though, even though they were my first love.

Nirvana were my most hated freakin band, solely cuz they were probably the first big grunge band to kill the classic rock scene as it was back then.
Nowadays though i have learned to appreciate Nirvana more now than i ever did back then. Again, i still don't really like em too much, but i can listen to them.

i had a love/hate thing as far as alternative went.i grew up listening to stuff like journey, aerosmith, guns n roses, motley crue, van halen, etc. then all of the sudden stuff like nirvana, pearl jam, etc. came along in 1991 and all the stuff like the crue, dokken, ratt, etc. sort of fell by the wayside and glam stuff was my favorite back then.these guys came along like cobain and vedder and to me it sounded like they were whiny or crying out.the solos went away for awhile and it got to where concerts weren't being putting on as much.when you caught an alternative band they didn't blow shit up or have a fancy show like most of the bands i'd seen would do.i liked quite a few songs by alternative bands but as far as the scene went i actually hated it for killing off the more melodic good stuff.the one band i did love was alice in chains who were way better than all the rest of the grunge including nirvana but thats just me.here i was with long hair going to party's cranking dokken in my camaro and these guys were wanting to listen to toad the wet sprocket with the bald heads and goatees and drive their honda civics so there were a few fights there. 8)

Yeah...but I think their more popular songs are much more melodic than your typical 90's fare....

There's a lot of songs I like that are categorized as Alternative, but frankly I have no idea what that means. Here's one I like to listen to by Morrissey (from The Smiths - but, I don't know anything about them): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouqxKoQC ... re=related
And, this by Yeah Yeah Yeahs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYJjHCZN46U
Remy Zero: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbGTzJcy ... re=related
