Thanks, Einstein!!!

No you wouldn't.

Hey, this is only because people keep cheering about the "Journey tour" and how much money was made, as if they did it all by themselves. Someone wrote "...not bad for a has-been..." in this thread. I also stand by my statement that I'd be impressed if THEY DID IT ALL BY THEMSELVES! But they didn't, so numbers mean absolutely nothing to me, unless you stood there polling each and every attentant at each show and asked who they came to see.

For once, get out of attack mode simply because I'm not someone screaming how wonderful Journey is every chance I get! It's not like I came on here spewing how lame you are for liking them, now did I? I seldomly come on here because one's own opinions aren't tolerated here (case in point) and I'm not one who revels in baiting others simply for the excitement, so why am I suddenly in your cross hairs? :?

High blood pressure much? Geez. SJ didn't attack you one bit. He simply pointed out that you wouldn't be impressed if Journey did it by themselves, because you are NEVER impressed with what Journey does now that your boy was dumped. We all know that. Didn't expect anything else when you graced us with your presence to bash one hell of an accomplishment by Journey (and Heart and Cheap Trick) in today's music and touring climate.

So numbers are important when it comes to Journey but if we bring the other guy up, numbers are irrelevant and it's all about the music. I see. :?

"My boy"??? Which one: Greg, Steve, Steve, or JSS? Shows how much you know... And, only what you assume. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and think you must be confusing me with someone else. I don't know how you came up with your assumption other than you simply read my signature and drew your own conclusions. From someone who has been around here much longer than you (as in years of reading), I know all too well the online personalities and characteristics of many who frequent these boards, therefore, I know a dig when I see one.

Let me correct you: "... one hell of an accomplishment by Journey and Heart and Cheap Trick in today's music and touring climate." Ah... Now, that looks better.

Not for me, numbers are irrelevant, period. Has no bearing on how I chose my music. It's all about the vocals, ok and the music.

Tito wrote:HANG ON! They made more than $21.4 million. The timeline was May 1 until Labor Day (Sept. 1). They still toured for another month. That's nearly a third of their tour. They probably pulled in the $28 -$29 million range. Which puts them near the Top 5.

Funny you should mention that because I was told they were the 5th biggest act this summer.

No one has ever argued that we select our music based on "numbers." What we were arguing is that those numbers suggest whether or not other people seem to think along the same lines. The data seems to suggest that many people thought Perry, Mercury, Gramm, and Jamison were wildly talented and creative, and that the "other guy" you always argued for is neither...relative to the aforementioned artists. Ultimately, music is subjective, though.

Huh? Yes, more people have heard of them, but it doesn't necessarily make them more "wildly talented and creative" than some others that aren't as popular or marketed as well. :?

You're right, it is subjective.........strictly talking talent, I think Mr Big as a whole, was way more talented than say, Survivor. JMHO.

We're not going to do this dance again, are we?

 Hey now, I was floored at how good JJ still sounds when I saw him at MRFest. I think it was on Burning Heart, impressed the heck out of me.

And hey, had to listen to something until EM hit the stage.

21 million? 7 million per band, minus all the payroll and expenses, then divided between band members? Not exactly big bucks., but a decent living for them. It's good that they billed them with Heart or it would have been a hell of alot less.

I'm going to bet it's not $7 million per band. Cheap Trick's not going to make the same amount for a 45 minute set that Journey makes for a 90 minute set, plus having to haul and provide their own lighting and speakers to Cheap Trick and Heart.

Could be. I get the impression those Heart chics aren't gonna settle for less than their fair share. They had alot of fans at those shows and rightfully so.

No doubt all three bands deserve their fair share. They all had to do with the tour's success. I just don't think the revenue is split into thirds. I would imagine Journey makes more, because they played the longest and provided the equipment for the other two bands.
